Like an old-time patent medicine, Dr.Salman's Window Power Tools combines the useful, the harmless, and the potentially dangerous, and sells for an exorbitant price. In this mixed bag of PC utilities, our favorite is HyperNet, which not only optimizes your Internet settings but allows you to customize them by hand. Security Toolkit lets you control access to various parts of Windows (for example, the desktop and the system settings). We were less impressed with the HyperWindows system tweaker, which doesn't allow the user to specify which Windows settings to change. The MemZilla RAM cleaner may even slow down your computer, since it doesn't consider the CPU load when optimizing. The interface, for its part, is rather jumbled, and we wish the utilities had been integrated into a single application window. Dr.Salman's Tools may be all right for curing the PC equivalent of a sore throat, but given its $49.95 price, we think users can easily find handier and cheaper alternatives.Publisher's description

Version: Dr.Salman's Window Power Tools 5
Pros: The interface is intuitive and easy to use but...
Cons: when I had it clean up the Temporary Internet Files, it cleaned far more than I had bargained for. My first clue that something was amiss occurred during the "clean up" when I noticed most of my desktop icons suddenly disappear. Failing to understand the clue, I allowed the clean up to continue until finished. Only when I attempted to reboot, did I come to realize the extent of the damage this utility had done. The machine would not boot. Using a rescue disk, I managed to get it up far enough to investigate the situation from DOS. Almost every file in the root directory and every file in virtually all other subdirectories had been deleted! Use it at your own risk and test it thoroughly before you buy.

Version: Dr.Salman's Window Power Tools 5
Cons: this program did nothing to help my computer, if anything it slowed it down. i have reason to believe that some of the components simply tell you something is optimized, but truely did nothing at all. it also deleted so called "useless garbage files" some of which were files that i needed, such as defenitions for my spyware removel program.
