You can use Disktective to trace your lost disk space. Find out the real size of your directories. They may contain hundreds of subdirectories, each containing many files. Simply run Disktective, and it will create a complete report displaying the real sizes of all directories and their containing subdirectories.
What's new in this version: Version 6.0 added when Disktective uses megabytes or kilobytes (as specified in the configuration screen) and some amount is rounded to zero megabytes or zero kilobytes (but the actual amount is not zero bytes), '+0' is displayed (instead of just '0').

"Good, simple utility"

Pros
Disktective provides a simple tool for getting a graphically clear overview of your file system. I use it prior to doing backups and whenever I'm ready to do some general housecleaning of unnecessary files.
Cons
None really.
Summary
Even if you only use Disktective occasionally, it's a handy tool to have.

Pros
If you have nothing else, this will show you where your space has gone on the hard disk.
Cons
Bit slow to scan, and by default lists alphabetically. Considering it is primarily to find where the space has gone, it should default to size, largest to smallest.
