Version: DiskInternals Uneraser 2.5
Pros: Found the files I wanted to restore
Cons: Placed an online order through Plimus - but the unlock key was not provided for 8 hours. In that time I found Easeus (for free) and had my files restored in 5 minutes. I then tried to cancel the order but there was no customer service person or method online to cancel the order. 8 hours after the order was place the unlock key arrived via email. DiskInternals has refused to provide a refund. I will avoid ever again dealing with with Plimus or DiskInternals.

Version: DiskInternals Uneraser 2.5
Cons: I bought this to recover a recording accidentally deleted from a camcorder. The software saw the correct file and size but the output file was of different size and content. I tried recovering all the files, but it just spit out the same few recordings over and over again under different names. There was no way I could have evaluated this in the trial version.
Needless to say, my file is still lost and I have wasted $40 and several hours (this software is extraordinarily slow in searching for the files and does not give indication of progress). I would recommend to steer clear and just remove the delete button on your keyboard.

Version: DiskInternals Uneraser 2.5
Pros: Friendly interface - looks like your standard XP interface.
GREAT for finding image files and audio files. There are options to look for archive files, MS Word docs, etc.
The unregistered version will only let you save files that are 64kb in size. Get the registered version - it's well worth it. Scan your files with the unregistered version first...see if anything turns up. It should tell you the properties of the files found. It brought up files I deleted MONTHS AGO. It tells you what condition the file is in. It is very good at preserving the original file name.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Make sure you scan as soon as you realized you made a mistake. This lessens your chances of overwriting your files! It saved all but a few (less than 5 - 10) of my photographs!

Pros: Very easy to use. I accidentaly deleted files on my external hard drive and it found it within 5 minutes.
Cons: None that I encountered
Summary: Great for finding recently deleted files!

Version: DiskInternals Uneraser 2.5
Pros: I was able to recover some important inadvertantly removed files.
Cons: I agree the instructions could be a LOT more helpful.
Summary: Be aware, if your file/s DO NOT appear in the preview window then they are gone.
However, after activating a scan my laptop screen is now in crisis. Looked at drivers etc to no avail. Waiting for support. - See all 7 user reviews Write review
