This versatile desktop utility offers an appealing selection of features--just be aware they take a lot of memory. At its most basic level, Desktop Sidebar lets you switch between programs or access documents more easily and efficiently, just like Windows Taskbar. But you also can transform Desktop Sidebar into a personal organizer with plug-ins such as a clock, an e-mail checker, a calendar, a stock-quote ticker, and a weather watcher. What's more, Desktop Sidebar can manage your RSS feeds and help streamline Web searches. A handy shortcut provides access to WinAmp, ICQ, and Skype. And Desktop Sidebar's active user community has developed some 50 functions, 200 skins, and 40 slide shows. Yet, as often happens with freeware, not all the features are completely bug-free. The main problem is Desktop Sidebar puts a serious drag on system functions. But if you've got plenty of RAM to spare, this is a great all-in-one utility.

Pros
At this point, I'm rather new to DSb and I like it. There are still things I need to learn what can it do and what it cannot do. So far so good except haven't figured out how to get the Weather on DSb.
Cons
It's fast and intimidating.
Summary
Try it!! You just might like it. I like most is the "hide U unhide".

Pros
Gives easy access to many types of data such as email, rss, weather and keeps it out of the way but available on a mouse move. I have used it for many years.
Cons
The developers have not released an update since July 2006 and parts of the app are now failing to work with Win7 and IE9. I had to turn off DEP to keep it running, but freeze ups still happen.
Summary
Good app but be prepared to tinker with no help from app developers.

Pros
Easy to set up. Very customizable. I've been using this sidebar for many years and it's never let me down. No problems with anti-virus detecting it as anything malicious.
Cons
sometimes I have been unsuccessful transferring settings from one machine to another.

Worked great- does all sorts of nice things, but what's with this Trojan? Is this a "false positive" and if so, then why?

Pros
I like the fact that it doesn,t use up a lot of system resources. Hide it until needed! This is a very resourceful program.

Hasnt been updated in awhile! Its too bad tho,,,,This program can have unlimited potential.

Pros
It makes information available at a glace without having to go into your browser and search for it. Amazing amount of gadgets but not as many as the Mac OSX dashboard. It is mostly sable except for a few exceptions.
Cons
Takes up a lot of memory and affects the performance of your system.
