Few games let you experience the bone-jarring sport that is demolition derby, but Demolition Derby & Figure 8 Race does a pretty good job. We recommend you choose your car based solely on looks, because it doesn't seem to affect gameplay once the smashing begins. You also can decide whether you want to participate in a derby with large cars, a compact-only derby, or a figure-eight race in which you'll need to complete 20 laps while dodging other cars. In our testing, all variations offered smooth graphics, and the game ran admirably well even on a lower-quality test machine. The action of the game is great, letting you accelerate and repeatedly ram other vehicles into submission, but you'll need to pay attention to your own car's damage if you plan to go the distance. This program's physics are nothing spectacular, but the gameplay is so entertaining we can forgive this shortcoming. Fans of demolition derbies and those who like the idea of mindless vehicular destruction definitely should check out this unique and fun game.Publisher's description
From Auxiliary Power :If you play driving games just to see how big of an accident you can cause, this is the game for you. Cars dent where you hit them, realistic physics make the cars drive like real cars, and you get more than 50 AI drivers to drive against. Each AI driver has his or her own driving style, and all are based on real demolition-derby drivers. You get 11 car-body styles, including compact, full size, station wagon, and hearse. You also get nine tracks and four difficulty settings. The game supports up to eight-player multiplayer games to be played over a LAN or the Internet. You can use steering wheels with support for force feedback. Engines smoke, steam, stall, and backfire. With real drivers and officials consulting on the game, this is as close as it gets to being there.
Version 1.22 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Fantastic demo! Smash Up Derby..."
Pros: If you enjoy car-combat type games, you'll enjoy this. It's a simulation of a demolition derby. The 3D polygon graphics are basic but well-done. The controls are good for both keyboard and gamepad. It's a lot of fun to circle around in the arena and crash into the other cars. And for a demo it's surprisingly complete: you have a choice of three basic arenas and half a dozen cars. If you upgrade to the full version you get a lot more cars and arenas.
Well done! I give it 5 stars!
Cons: (Scratches head) I think it's great and can't find much to complain about.

Version: Demolition Derby & Figure 8 Race 1.22
Pros: We here at the complex have rated many demolition derby games, not necessarily here, though. We've tested another version of this game in RealArcade, which was the same exact thing, but only a 60 minute trial. This is not 60 minutes. The game itself is outstanding, compared to other games we have played.
Cons: For a demo, we don't see much of anything we don't like.
