"Great product way back and now"

    September 18, 2012   |   By EventPhotog

    Version: Darkroom Core Edition 8.7

    Pros

great for shooting events or weddings
print your own prints or send to a lab
publish your photos online to sell more
    templates borders and trading cards
best way to make sheets of prints like wallets, 3x5s etc

    Cons

this is only a trial but lets you try most stuff before buying
this is a really old version but I still have a parallel port key for it
newer versions 8.9 and higher let you do tethered capture

    Summary

I'm reviewing this old software because the other review seems to miss the point. Darkroom is not a Photoshop replacement. Darkroom is made for people that sell photos for money (wedding, portrait, company events, school events, green screen, etc). If you shoot events for money, try Darkroom for best workflow and printing. If you want an image editor, there's lots of others.

"Hard to believe people get ideas like this"

    February 10, 2008   |   By vmazelis

    Version: Darkroom Core Edition 8.7

    Cons

Its photo editing capacity is not any better than what you can do with the totally free Irfanview. Or you can get Photoshop CS3 for $200 less than this joke and have the best photo editing program in the world. The authors of the Darkroom want you to sell your pictures on their poorly promoted website. But you will be much better of by creating your own website and selling your photos from there, while saving a ton of money in comparison to this truly hard-to-believe idea and having control over promotion and exposure of you site.
