"a free DVD database application that is customizable"
Version: DVDTheque 3.0.3
Pros
It does what it promises top do: keep track of your DVD collection. It allows entry of a lot of infomation which is searchable. The main window displaying the info is customizable and the info can be exported to an .xml file. Nice interface.
Cons
Some stray terms in French in the interface.
There is no Manual or Help which makes for a fairly steep learning curve.
Info can be downloaded from various movie databases (mostly French) but not IMDB.Summary
A good application especially as it is free

"I don't know what the other reviewers are talking..."

...about!!!
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I downloaded it and yes it was in .sit format but when opened it there was the .dmg with no more .sit's. Moved it to the application folder and opened the program up. Went to preferences and changed to region 1 and NTSC, BTW use dvdsoon.com if you can it seems to have more American titles. This was obviously written overseas so what if there are some overseas DVD's we are not the only ones to buy them in the world. Program works great for what it is "FREE", thanks to the developer for a great program. -
"DVDTheque and .dmg"

The download will uncompress...all you have to do is highlight the title and delete the .dmg portion so all you have is DVDTheque.sit. It opens just fine. Then drag it to your application folder. Not a big deal. -
"It took an idiot to package the download file"
Version: DVDTheque 2.7.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I downloaded DVDTheque, and this is the file I got:
DVDTheque.dmg.sit - A disk image "stuffed," an annoying way to package a file, since a simple .sit file is smaller than a .dmg file, and usually the same size as a stuffed disk image. But really, why not use a few extra KBs and use the more practical and non-proprietary .dmg format?
Back to the downloaded file. I unstuffed the original file, and got this:
DVDTheque.dmg - Ah, I'm halfway there! Just mount the image, click n' drag, and fire up the shiny new software! Ummm, hey, what's this? I mounted the image, and beheld ANOTHER .sit file!
Mounted image contents: DVDTheque.app.sit
So next I had to copy the stuffed file OUT of the disk image, because I have StuffitExpander set to unstuff into the stuffed file's directory (the default setting). After copying the file into my downloads directory, I unstuffed it, and finally got:
DVDTheque - The actual application.
I surmised that further evaluation of DVDTheque is unnecessary, since only a complete moron would package an application for download in such a redundant and cryptic fashion. Note to developer: use a compression format that ALL Macs can read out of the box, such as .zip or .dmg. -

Quite simple one of the most useful things I have ever found on the web. I have hundreds of DVD's that are now managed with DVDTheque. Thanks for a great piece of software. This is one of those rare utilities that I would have paid real money for. -

I bought this app 12 month ago. After numberless updates this software is buggy like on the first day. There is no clear line in enhancing this application. I miss the clean Mac-like handling. -
"Great Award BLA BLA"

<Quote> Congratulations Your product "DVDTheque 2.6.1" has been tested by the Softpedia labs and found to be completely clean of adware/spyware components. <Quote>
This simply means it has no viruses and no spyware inside. Many ones here are speaking of other authors rating your product and I am an author but of a completely different product (networking) and I find your product not worth a cent. Look at DVD Sphere who got a 5/5 Softpick rating from Softpedia. This is a true award an qualifies it as the best of this categorie. Personally I prefer and use DVD Cache for it's excellent web grabbing. Sorry, but you asked my opinion.
