Editors' Review

+

CyberLink Power2Go 10 can rip, burn, copy, and convert movies, music, and data discs; convert media directly for mobile devices; print labels; and manage media libraries. The Platinum version adds significant features to the free Power2Go Essential, including the Disc Manager, online media backup (social media, too), and the ability to rip CDs directly to FLAC or APE.

Pros

Suite: Power2Go's start screen integrates all tools, each of which has its own layout. We could set preferences to automatically print labels, retrieve album and disc info online, automatically add burned discs to libraries and backups, and do other things only an integrated suite can do.

All discs: The software handles all of your media discs: Blu-ray, DVD, CD, Mixed Mode CDs, and even Photo Gallery discs.

Recovery disc: Take a blank disc and a few minutes to burn a system recovery disc, and keep it safe and accessible: You'll be glad you did, should you ever need it.

Extras: Though basic, Power2Go Essential has a few extras, like the Desktop Burning Gadget. The Platinum version adds LabelPrint, WaveEditor, Virtual Drive, and many more features and utilities.

Cons

Go free: Freeware can replicate features like online media backup and library management, making Power2Go Essential and other free tools viable alternatives to premium suites like Power2Go 10 Platinum.

Bottom Line

Though Power2Go 10's free version delivers the essentials, we favor better tools when performance matters most.

"This is Very dangerous"

March 23, 2015  |  By CaptEricS

 |  Version: CyberLink Power2Go Essential 10

Pros

Power2go 10.0 is a virus and trogan, if you will, Yet, the original on my PC falied on a certan date... Latter, the current Power2go came up??? THIS is a virus that cannot be identified on most OS. The corporation is tryimg to hide it from you. All the Best!

Cons

Always shows on BOOT up. I owned the partcial version on my PC purchace, yet tf failed recently. (Cyberlink has some good products, yet they have probably been taken over and I DO NOT trust them anymore!)

Summary

There is no such thing as cyber security... or neither social networking / security!
THIS HAS BECOMING VERY DANGEROUS!!!

"Downloader does not install software"

February 17, 2015  |  By LorraineJoubert

 |  Version: CyberLink Power2Go Essential 10

Pros

None- does not install

Cons

Struggle to get the software download. Most sites only give the latest version, which is not compatible with XP. This is not the software, but a downloader. The downloader refuses to install the software, requesting Direct X9, though it is already installed on my laptop.

Summary

maybe it will be great if Cnet could give is the software to download and not a downloader that does not work.

"Great. Simple and does the job"

February 10, 2015  |  By zoorick

 |  Version: CyberLink Power2Go Essential 10

Pros

It has everything one may need to rip or burn disk. There are tons of other features, but I rarely use them.

Cons

None. I don't understand all the hate comments. This is a matter of taste and nitpicking I think.

"Almost every positive review on here is a fake!"

Pros

Click the names of the positive reviewers and you get a whole list of "users" who signed up on Cnet and gave a glowing review to all Cyberlink software. I smell a rat. No thanks on anything made by a company who tries to cheat the reviews. Bite me!

"Easy to use when it works"

December 27, 2013  |  By CrumbHar

 |  Version: CyberLink Power2Go Essential 9.0

Pros

- It is FREE
- Seems to support many type of drives
- Easy to use
- Good use of graphics to make it easier to use

Cons

- Does not provide enough info about the drive or media (required for trouble shooting by manufacturers).
- Creates LOTS of expensive blu-ray coasters
- Does not accurately set speeds to burn discs
- Limited speed options
- Limited burn options
- Annoying reminders to upgrade

Summary

I downloaded as an "upgrade" to Power2Go 7 that came free with my blu-ray burner as it did have problems. Well problems did not go away with 9 but they did using ImgBurn. I actually prefer how much easier Power2Go is to use over ImgBurn but if Power2Go does not work, it is pointless to have it (unless I am out of coasters, it makes LOTS of them). So I am uninstalling Power2Go from all my systems and installing ImgBurn instead as I can not afford the cost (in bad blu-ray discs) from Power2Go

"Love the price (and it works!)"

November 05, 2013  |  By FURegistration

 |  Version: CyberLink Power2Go Essential 9.0

Pros

Free. I have bought so many copies of burning software over the years and I end up burning maybe 6 CDs or DVDs and it's just not cost effective anymore. This is compounded with the fact we don't really exchange items on physical media any longer. I actually considered going to buy a new DVD burner because the hardware costs less than some of the software companies are trying to sell.
