• Cyberlink Blu-Ray software is lousy.

  Pros

  I downloaded and ran this advisor tool prior to upgrading to a Blu-Ray player. I ordered a Samsung unit that included Cyberlink software with a high degree of confidence. I learned a sad lesson about Cyberlink software and about Samsung and Cyberlink customer support.

  Cons

  The Cyberlink suite will not play Blu-Ray at all even though the advisor now says I am Blu-Ray ready. Samsung is no help and Cyberlink is even less; I have spent hours on this including time on the phone with Samsung and Cyberlink. This turns out to be a known problem that neither Samsung or Cyberlink wants to address. The player will play DVDs but not Blu-Rays. I read some reviws of a LaCie Blu-Ray player; it comes with the same Cyberlink suite and has the same problem.

  Stay away from Cyberlink software!!!

  Pros

  It installs easily.

  Cons

  I am editing HD video with Avid Media Composer on my computer and my video card works fine. But, according to the CyberLink software, my video card is not able to playback a BluRay disk. I am CREATING BD disks with my MC software but apparently, I can never play them back on this computer!!!!!

  Summary

  Not an accurate measure of whether a video card is adequate for various functions. Thankfully, I use products OTHER than CyberLink

  Pros

  Analysed 4 systems for me and identified what I needed to play blu-rays (as I bought a blu-ray drive). Fortunately one of my systems only needs an HDMI lead 8-). Can't understand why people are saying don't buy as its free??

  Cons

  I have bought Cyberlink 12 ultra upgrade and when I upgraded to Windows 8 I've had issues which Cyberlink haven't come back to me yet but I've managed to sort the problem. I think their software is OK but support is not so good. Hope this is helpful to someone out there!

  Summary

  Whether you have or want to buy Cyberlink software this will tell you regardless your system shortfalls and upgrades needed.

  Unless you pay $30 for a couple months of tech support you can talk to nobody. I just wanted all the features of my legal and paid for cyberlink program to work and there is a activation issue. There is no number to call, not even for sales, and it is very apparent through thier email support system responses they could care less. That is if you get a response. If they made a good product don't you think they wouldn't be afraid to help thier customers?

  It check my system, passed, but won't play the BD, original BD. It claims that the disc is copy, crap.

  Doesn't tell you anything that just using some BD player software wouldn't tell you.

  I really don't see the reason for this software unless it is to help you with figuring out a problem/trying to justify a hardware upgrade.
