Atari's Crashday promises lots of high-flying, high-octane, high-powered arcade racing, and the cinematic intro to the demo features explosion after explosion. Unfortunately, the content of the demo makes it difficult to judge the gameplay, as only two modes (Wrecking Match and Stunt Show) are included. Though the publisher's description promises myriad weapons, the only ones we get to use in the demo are missiles and the default minigun in the Wrecking Match. The cars and explosions look great, and the ramps and crazy track available in Stunt Show mode seems promising, but gameplay left us with an empty feeling, and the included content doesn't justify the 300MB download.
The game doesn't currently feature any real models, but the provided vehicles are a muscle-car Mustang knockoff and a big-tired 4x4 truck. The goal of the Wrecking Match is to wreck 10 cars before any of your other three opponents. Your HUD displays the health of your vehicle with a diagram and percentage. The environmental damage from jumps and falls is fairly realistic, but the weapons destroy vehicles far too quickly. One good missile hit will quickly turn you into toast. Also, it's not uncommon to blast an enemy down to marginal status only to have him finished off by an opponent for the score. The Stunt Show mode offers some massive jumps but aside from leaping far and long, it's not that exciting or engaging. While the final version of Crashday might be filled with fantastic car-combat action, the demo doesn't quite give that impression.
Publisher's description
From Atari :Crashday puts players in the world of stunts, dents and adrenaline. Smash vehicles into pieces with breath-taking stunts or, better still, race against rivals on custom high-speed racetracks--and there are more ways than just head-on collisions to get rid of your opponents. Crashday offers drivers weapons, absolute freedom of movement, weapons, a large career mode, weapons, many mini games, weapons, a huge integrated track editor, weapons, exceptionally detailed damage models, and more weapons. There are 7 modes within the game to offer players a wide selection of varying gameplay elements: Stunt Show, Racing, Wrecking Match, Hold The Flag, Pass The Bomb, Bomb Run, and Test Drive.
This demo for Crashday allows you to check out the car combat and racing action game for up to 50 launches. The demo includes two different game modes and one playable car.

Version: Crashday demo
Pros: The game is fun to play. Play a mode for total destruction of the cars. Or play a stunt circuit, and archieve the most stuntpoints. The graphics are reasonable but they can be better. Controls are oldschool.
Cons: The game craches alot, has Framedrop issues and ingame lots of bugs like texture faults. The graphics engine will hopefully be updated cuase it's a bit ugly.

Version: Crashday demo
"Raw Destruction at its finest!"
Pros: I heard about this game a long time ago, even before Atari picked it up, and I thought it looked cool then. The Demo looks great. The Damage & effects are spectacular. The cars drive smooth, and you really need to play quick and smart in some game types.
Cons: The requirements are very high, it works good on my work PC (3.2GHz), but it might struggle on mid range pc's.
