Continuous Data Protection (CDP) Standard Edition is high performance disk-based backup software for Windows servers. After completing one initial replica of all your desired data, CDP can complete virtual full Windows server backups in just minutes. Your data is protected at the block-level and unique disk blocks are stored only once across all recovery points, increasing the storage efficiency of your Windows backups. So good bye to the nightly backup window: complete one initial replica, then let CDP's asynchronous Windows server replication take over. Schedule Windows server backups as frequent as every 15 minutes. Store and archive Virtual Full Windows backup replicas onto any disk based storage: second hard drives, network shares, NAS, CIFS, SAN, ISCSI, etc.

Standard Edition includes CDP Disk Safe technology, industrial strength disk storage for your Windows backup and archiving that recovers automatically from crashes and power failures. Disk Safes are fully portable; open, close and copy Disk Safes across servers. Disk Safe technology's virtual full Windows backups means that until unique disk blocks change or are no longer used they are only stored one time in your Windows server backup storage, even across thousands of recovery points. There is no real limit to the number of recovery points you can archive and the Disk Safe automatically retains only the deltas you need for your data retention policy.

    "Blazing fast backups! It does what it advertises"

    Version: Continuous Data Protection Standard Edition 3.14

    Pros

    My first backup took a while as expected. After that it was amazing how fast it was. My backups (they call them replicas) completed in 5-10 minutes and I have 1.5 TB of files! Web interface is nice but was a challenge to figure out how to connect to it at first.

    I use it for backup of my server at a co-location.

    I can see it used volume shadow copy to protect my SQL Server database which is nice also.

    Cons

    For servers only! I tried installing this on my laptop and it warned me that it is not recommended and it should only be used on windows servers.

    You need a second hard disk or a network share to backup to.
