Among the viruses, worms, Trojans, and other nasty things lurking on the Internet are keyloggers, pernicious little bits of code that record everything you type. Whether you're trying to protect passwords and credit card numbers or the contents of sensitive e-mails, CoDefender is a welcome weapon in the Web security arsenal.
The premise behind CoDefender is simple; it encrypts and scrambles everything you type, leaving keyloggers with a bunch of gibberish instead of a record of your keyboard use. Although the program foils the attempts of keyloggers, it doesn't interfere at all with what you're actually typing; we tried it with Firefox and hardly noticed that it was running, aside from a small window that appeared and showed the scrambled version of what we were typing. The window also alerts you when you switch to an unprotected program; the free version of the program only protects Firefox and Internet Explorer, but the standard version, of which users can get a free 30-day trial, offers protection for a wide variety of applications, including Microsoft Office products. Users simply choose which programs they want to protect and CoDefender adds them to its list. The program is always easily accessible in the system tray, allowing users to quickly adjust settings if needed. The built-in Help file is well-written and thorough. Overall, we found CoDefender to be both versatile and easy to use, and we think it's a great defense against keyloggers.
CoDefender is free to try. The program installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.
CoDefender 2008 computer security software prevents identity, data and intellectual property thefts by protecting sensitive data, credit card numbers, passwords and personal and corporate information from keyloggers when you perform online banking, make online purchases, check emails, chat online, edit documents and perform log in operations. Anti-keylogging Protection Modules in CoDefender 2008 feature keyboard encryption that scrambles and encrypts your keystrokes, so even if malware has penetrated through your existing defenses, sensitive data such as personal and corporate information remain incomprehensible to the attacker. Furthermore, Universal Anti-keylogging Protection Modules are capable of protecting almost any application, so there is no need to wait for us to release a version of the software that protects your favorite applications - you now have the power to choose what to protect. CoDefender software features a flexible architecture enabling new and updated Protection Modules to be automatically delivered and activated on your system to provide you with the latest security features and protection.
The program also gives you real-time security feedback so that you are aware when protection is or is not available, where the security feedback is designed to not get in your way and can be configured to be verbose or discreet. The software's encryption engine uses standards-based algorithms and cryptographically strong pseudo random number generators for higher security, reliability and dependability, and it can and should be used alongside existing security suites and software. CoDefender Keyboard Driver passed Microsoft Windows Logo Testing. Version 1.2.281 includes improved Universal Protection Module configuration, improved encryption-decryption synchronization, improved program upgrade process, and Internet Explorer 8 protection is now available in Free Edition.
