Much faster then v4, very easy to use, find all my duplicates and can now print the expanded list of duplicates.
so far nothing to complaint.
In general I am very please with this software, it find accurate duplicates, it find the duplicates by comparing the file data itself and not using CRC or other methods that is not 100% accurate. just love the new interface.
The user interface is nice, and it completes the scan fast.
Reports too many false duplicates (in fact I gave up searching through the false duplicates before I ever found an actual duplicate)
So much for 100% match.
The publisher claims that the software finds duplicates "by comparing the file data itself ensuring 100% accuracy." I can't say whether they are actually comparing the file data, but I can say that whatever they are doing was closer to 0% accurate for me...
In my job, I am constantly recieving large amounts of data from many customers. I try to keep things organized, but I'm not always sucessfull, and sometimes customers just add new files to the ones they sent me previously.
I need a utility that can scan a set of drives and/or folders and accurately identify 100% duplicates. Based on the claims made by the publisher, I was really excited to try CloneMaster v5.00.
My first test was on a set of folders where I was curious about whether I had duplicates. At first things looked very promising as the process was moving along rather quickly, but as it started to identify duplicates I became less ethusiastic. I waited until it finished and then reviewed the results. I spent about 10 minutes looking through each of the supposed duplicates, but none of them were actual duplicates. I even opened some of the text files that it reported as duplicates, and I could see numerous differences with my naked eye. I was disheartened and gave up on the remaineder of the results before I even found a true duplicate.
Thinking this was this just a fluke (or that I had been hungry during the previous test), I ran it again on another day . This time I used a set of folders that I know contains are large number of duplicates. Again it performed the comparison remarkably fast (especially since it was over 45GB of files). Unfortunatly this test ended in the same manner as the previous: I searched through the results, finding only "false posative", in the end I gave up on the remainder of the results before I actually found any true duplicates.
I will admint that I had a colleage tell me that he used a previous version of the utility and didn't have nearly the number of false posatives that I did.
Maybe there is something unique about the files I am scanning, maybe I was using the utility incorrectly, or maybe there is an issue with version 5.00. Either way this utility did not work for me.
scaned a non system backup drive where I drop downloads and other stuff. Found everything ok but had to scan more than once to find them all.
True you can't delete batch files unless you buy. But right clicking allows explorer drop down which you can delete from.
NOT FOR ANYONE WHO IS NOT AN ADVANCE USER
THIS APPLICATION MIS IDENTIFIED DUPLICATES WHICH CAN HARM YOUR SYSTEM

If anyone thinks this software is for advanced users (as said by Boxissss), they shouldn't use a computer at all. It list your duplicates in a simple list, like Windows "Search for files". What more do you need? I am a novice user and CloneMaster is the easiest software I've ever purchased. It can not be made any simpler. It is also 100% accurate (you are wrong about miss identify duplicates, Boxissss). Never once I has a problem, and it always found true duplicates, never missed once. It is the best there is.
THIS NEW VERION ROCK.
Scans fast enough, with simple interface that allows scanning files on another PC over a home network.
As it's scanning, it shows it's progress, including a running tally of how many duplicate files found. Once scanning is done, however, it reports that none were found. And I know for a fact there were several duplicates. I wanted to weed them out, but this ain't the program to do it.
Doesn't require MS .net. Works (?) on Win98.
It did not work for me. I intentionally created a duplicate file and it reported no duplicates found.
I have apx 10k digital photos. About a third are dupes because the camera starts to renumber on battery change, and I don't delete from memory stick every time I copy to PC. So, lots of dupes in lots of directories. I knew it had to be wrong when it first said no duplicates found. Tried it on both the Laptop (Win98) and Desktop (XP Home.) Because I renamed some photo extensions to *.jpeg, it was set to compare all files regardless of extension.
Simple & fast. This little jewel is a big time and space saver. We use it across our network!
And often crashes.
it works and is fairly easy to use
RAM HOG and it takes quite some time to run its scan
