    Version: Chess Commander 1.24

    "Enjoyable online play"

by candrp on October 7, 2006

Pros: The large 2D wooden board makes it a real pleasure to play internet chess on. Most online sites have small boards (like Pogo) or dreary interfaces (like Yahoo).

Also you can save your online game in pgn format. You can then examine the game using a built in pgn viewer. Sites like Pogo just email you your game. The game isn't in pgn format,so you have to set up a chessboard to review your game. The pgn viewer in Chess Commander is a real time saver.

The rating system for online play is a self-rating one. You estimate your strength and select a category starting at beginner and going up to expert. I like this feature. When playing I feel more relaxed because I am not playing for any rating points, but for the joy of the game.

I believe this self-rating feature must cut down on people cheating during games.

Cons: Could use more online players.
