Easily track Web page changes with this simple but effective Firefox add-on. Check4Change's interface is merely an additional submenu to Firefox's context menu. The menu is easy to access, and the commands easy to implement. A custom configuration option lets users personalize select areas of the add-on's operation. Tooltip style help adequately explains the program's custom features for experienced users.
Operating this add-on starts with selecting text from any Web site. Users then merely choose the appropriate time frame from the context submenu. This utility will check the text every 15 seconds to an hour looking for any change. Users can customize the check with any other interval or choose to randomize the check time. Unfortunately, there is no method to request a check at a specific time each day. The app defaults to stop monitoring after finding a change, but a simple check-box option will continue checks until stopped by the user. Users can choose up to five notifications from a tab animation to playing a sound.
This easy-to-use app adds little overhead or complexity to Firefox. Check4Change's monitoring capability opens numerous opportunities for experienced users to automonitor select Web sites.
Check4Change (aka C4C) is a simple extension that allows you to periodically check a Web page for updates. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
