Thanks for the info, it is as I had suspected. I've been burned here before downloading and installing software from here. Have had trepidations ever since.
Pros
It gives the basic information of your computers motherboard, graphics, memory, etc.
Cons
I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE CNET EDITORS REVIEW OF THIS PRODUCT. They make it sound like it will check your drivers and your bios to see if they are up to date. This is a FLAT OUT LIE. IT DOES NOTHING OF THE SORT. it has links that open your browser for you and take you to a malware page which changes your browser search settings to conduit and tries to get you to install ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE THAT SUPPOSEDLY CHECKS FOR DRIVER UPDATES AND BIOS UPDATES BUT NIETHER OF THESE PROGRAMS WORK AT ALL> THIS IS A TOTAL SHAM AND CNET SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR RATING IT AND THEIR EXPLANATION OF THE SOFTWARE ITSSELF. WHEN YOU ALLOW PROGRAMS LIKE THIS ONE ON YOUR SITE AND YOU PROMOTE IT YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE SOLUTION I Am SO DISGUSTED BY THIS APP IT HAS LOWERED MY OPINION OF YOUR ENTIRE WEBSITE TO NOTHING BUT TRASH.
Summary
This software gives you some very basic information about your computer but at what cost. Well really you should already know this information about your computer..... Do not download this program if you were sucked in by the CNET so called "EDITOR" saying that it will check your drivers and bios for updates because it does nothing of the sort. And It has malware/adware included. That is basically all this program is is one giant silent installer for a much larger problem that I now have to deal with. Thank you so much... No Really Thank you so much you have been so helpful with your Super utility. NOT!

Good post, informative for me. And "I" do understand the use of caps. Sometimes even when we think we?re being careful, we get burned with the bloat/crapware.
I appreciate the info as I work in cyber security. Sometimes, even the best AV does not get all the malware/spyware?.

Well, first, shouting isn't good etiquette and is difficult to read: some of us should turnoff the all caps button. Second, this little utility isn't so bad as you make it out to be. And any free software has optional programs attached that the careful user can opt out of. You can click on the hardware categories to see if there is a driver update for various components of your system. I've found it a helpful adjunct to driver updater programs, along with some common sense and experience.
Pros
You get what you need, all the information about your computer with detailed info. it is small and very simple to install and to understand.
Cons
While installing make sure to check off the box which wants to add Conduit to your computer.
Summary
Good and simple demands attention while installing the program.

Yes, Conduit is a painfully annoying nightmare and you do not clean it out, it returns? Even if you do turn off the checkbox?
Pros
It works like it's supposed to be. There really isn't anything else to say. It has a small footprint I suppose.
Cons
Very minimalistic. You'll usually understand it more if you're really educated.
Summary
There's nothing to it. It's a no-frills program showing your system and hardware information. It does not install any virus or malware. You have the option to disable installing the Conduit search in the CNET Installer.

Pros
It works and shows PC information
Cons
It is very bad software to silently install www.conduit.search.com into your browsers. When clicking new tab in browser, it re-routes your window to www.conduit.search.com. Please be careful and don't download it, otherwise you will get trouble.
Summary
This software includes virus - to install www.conduit.search.com into your browser's settings.

THANK U! It's nice to know people aren't too apathetic to write a review warning others!
*I ABSOLUTELY choose "Custom Install," the "No, Thanks" button, or check/uncheck whatever boxes I have to in order to decline offer(s) bundled w/my "requested" download.
The last time I dl an app UPDATE from CNet, I declined the Conduit offered by the update's installer, but the browser add-ins assoc. w/Conduit's Search tool were installed anyway.
This infection was verified & resolved w/help from BleepingComputers (not plug, just fact.)
I make it a habit to never install an app from within another app; even if I want the offered one.
Always go to a software's home page - as close to a security guarantee as you're gonna get! (Probably)

This utility has a good reputation, so my guess is CNET has somehow managed to deploy an installer with malware in it. This tarnishes the CNET name. Coupled with the deceptive links on a lot of other CNET download pages for unrelated packages, I find myself avoiding CNET downloads and advising others to do so as well.
Pros
Small program that provides a lot of good information about your system. I wanted to see information about my system memory and it showe me that and much more.
Cons
None. Works as advertised.
Summary
Reviewers are complaining about malware and programs when you download this program. Just about every free program tries to add something at installation. You have to be proactive and carefully watch your installations for these programs. Pick "CUSTOM" install and not "RECOMENDED INSTALL" when prompted and you can opt out of the crapware. Hope this helps.

Pros
The app itself is very informative
Cons
Unfortunately, the creator has now seen fit to try to sneak in as much junk software during the install as possible. You have to be very careful. I was trying to minimize my browser when I accidentally clicked on one of the ads on the page--my browser was immediately hijacked. Home page was changed, search engine changed, it added an extension. This is ridiculous.
Summary
This is what I call a truly dishonest company. Avoid the app.

Pros
It is a simple program that does exactly what it is supposed to do: analyze my CPU. I have installed it successfully on two computers.
Cons
It does not actually DO anything. It just provides information.
Summary
It has not harmed either one of my computers. It has given me accurate information that I was able to research.
