CNET Editors' review
RIM's BlackBerry App World isn't the only way to get mobile applications onto your BlackBerry smartphone, but it's one of the most convenient. As the official BlackBerry storefront, there are certain advantages to using RIM's App World. Programs are easy to find by browsing through categories or searching--and only those apps compatible with your phone model will show. You're able to View reviews and see screenshots before committing to an app; you can add your own 2 cents' worth once you've installed the program in question.
While RIM manages no return policy, developers have the option of publishing trials, so you can evaluate a premium application before you purchase. At this time, the only way to purchase apps is through a PayPal account. We'd prefer more options, like linking a credit card with the app store, or using carrier billing.
Apart from that, RIM got one important element right. The My World tab on App World logs your purchases and freeware downloads, making it easy to redownload apps you've uninstalled, and to reinstall all your apps anew if you change phone models.

"NO REFUND FOR BAD APPS???"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
Blackberry you just suck!!
Cons
How the hell do some of these apps get listed? I spent 3 hours cleaning up a POS app named INCOGNITO downloaded for $2. This $2 app cost me $$ in lost revenue. No support by Blackberry or INCOGNITO a S-HOLE company located in Germany.
Summary
BLACKBERRY YOU SUCK!!!!!

"RIM do not care!"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
If I hid from my clients I wouldn't have any!
Cons
I'm amazed to see that I am not alone here! RIM Take notice!

"crap program only useful with data plans"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
Many seemingly nice programs all in one place. Too bad it won't work unless you have a data plan.
Cons
I've never seen it work for me because I only have wi-fi so no pros for this useless program. You'll get connection errors if you don't have a data plan where app world's site will tell you the phone's radio is off when it is on.
Summary
My money must be unwanted. I wasted my time on my laptop w/the phone connected and kept getting "device radio off" error trying to connect the phone to app world to get the action pad prog. b/c these dummies decided to get rid of memo pad shortcuts. I hate Blackberry and RIM. Totally ridiculous waste of time for me.

"ZERO STARS: NO REFUND! You're giving your money away"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
None, sorry to be mean but customer support 0 stars
Cons
No refunds. Pass the buck email support, "see the developer".
Summary
I think the worst thing about it is that anyone can code a buggy app and make a mint. App world didnt even take down the app that didnt work with support email bouncing. Its still there for other to buy and be ripped off. Paypal actually backed up app world when I disputed the payment saying that they dont offer refunds for a "service". Software wasn't considered goods. This was my first purchase, and my last. Having used BB for 7 years, I'm on to pastures new. I have to give one star here, but I give it a big fat ZERO STARS

"completely bad app"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
I can't think of any pros, as I have not been able to get it to work.
Cons
Anytime I attempt to use the Blackberry App World, I get an error. Specifically an error that says "DNS Error"
Summary
Don't bother with this app. It sucks.
-
"Not for Wi-FI !"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
If you don't have a data plan, you can not use this!
Cons
I have a 8220 with Wi-Fi, but the program will not allow you to use it without a Data Plan
Summary
For those of us who bought the phone thinking we would have access to this through wi-fi are left missing out. Luckily Crackberry.com makes one that does work.

"Buyer Beware!!! BlackBerry WILL NOT back Purchases"
Version: BlackBerry App World 1.1
Pros
Lots of apps
Cons
BlackBerry will not support or refund for bad applications! They allow developers that DO NOT support their products to continue to take money from users, when their applications do not work.
Summary
I purchased MultiAlarm Pro by Fruity Apps and the application will not work on my BlackBerry 9630 - Tour from Verizon Wireless. The application will not allow setting up recurring alarms as there is a software glich that will not allow you to select the days of the week. I have written Fruity Apps three times and no response. I asked BlackBerry to refund the money and they refuse, stating to ask the developer for support. I told them I have done so with no reply! BlackBerry should purge any applcations from it's store if the developer is not willing to reply to requests for support. I will not purchase any more apps from BlackBerry App World as you never know if the softare will work. Too bad for the developers that do what they should!
