This anti-pop-up utility differs from others we've seen because it allows you to create your own customized blocking applications. Despite this highly technical slant, BigSpeed Popup Blocker starts working as soon as you install it and turned out decent performance in our tests. The main interface is basically a big log of killed ads, although clicking the Settings icon will allow you to access a few customization options. You can choose to allow pop-ups with the whitelist, suppress JavaScripts, block HTML dialog and alert boxes, and specify what sound the program should play when it does its work. You'll find tools for writing your own blocking applications within the Delphi 7, VB.NET, VB6, and VC .NET environments, but you'll likely need extensive programming experience to use them. Though most home users probably won't be able to tap its full potential, users who know how to write code or who just like to tinker around may appreciate BigSpeed Popup Blocker.

BigSpeed Popup Blocker is an ActiveX control that allows you to create your own application for intelligent pop-up blocking. The component monitors all running browsers (Internet Explorer 5.0 and up) and quietly eliminates all unwanted pop-up and pop-unders ads before they appear. BigSpeed Popup Blocker does not require any configuration and will start killing pop-ups right away. You can exclude certain domains from the checking, use sound alerts, customize sound alerts, suppress JavaScipt, unload event handlers, block JavaScript dialog boxes, enable pop-ups by holding down the Ctrl key, and block events with the URL of the loaded page.
