Publisher's Description
From Robert Moerland:
BestPractice is a musician's practice tool, to slow down or speed up music, either from an MP3 file or directly from a CD. Ordinarily the sound is distorted when slowed down our sped up - you get the effect like when playing a 33 rpm record on 45 rpm speed (remember the Chipmunks?).
BestPractice tries to correct this, so you can slow down and speed up music, while keeping the original pitch. It is also possible to change the pitch of the music without affecting its tempo. Play along with for instance Eb tuned guitars without retuning your own, or slow down that high-speed guitar solo on a CD that you like to learn. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

"poor product, horrible, dangerous, and evil installer"
Version: BestPractice 1.03
Pros
free, or so they say
Cons
The CNET installer is absolutely HORRIBLE. It tries to install all kinds of crapware. Whoever at CNET decided to do this deserves only to work behind a circus elephant with a shovel and a bucket.
I installed the product from a different source. The speed changer function is weird. It doesn't actually work but it does add a sort of echo effect to the songs.Summary
Product isn't worth the trouble,
It's unusable for me. When I try to slow down or speed up a song it's so distorted that I can't hear much other than distortion. There's a sort of unsynchronized multi-track effect.
CNET downloader is SCUM! Spyware for sure, settings-changer for sure, and who knows what malware, viruses, backdoors, keystroke capturers, etc. it might install? CNET was honorable for years. No longer.
REMEMBER: CNET DOWNLOADER IS SCUM!!

I have a pretty standard setup here. Windows 7 on a PC with an AMD Athlon dual-core processor, 5 Gbytes of RAM. Primary browser is Firefox 19.0.2 so I don't think my system is the problem.
I'm glad the program is free. If I had paid for it I would return it for a refund.
Try it. You might have a better experience that I did. -
"Not for speech"
Version: BestPractice 1.03
Pros
Good for music files
Cons
Not so good for speech
Summary
I only tried it for speeding up podcast speech. Not really suitable for this. The voices aren't clear enough when tempo increased >150%; no batch mode; only saves .WAV files.

"Perfect Practice Software"
Version: BestPractice 1.03
Pros
Scope and execution and price
Cons
Not applicable
Summary
Scope is just right. Open an mp3, click play, click to set the start of the passage you want to work on, click to set the end point, set a percentage slowdown, click loop, and get to work on your chops. All you need, done just right.
After a few minutes using it I was very impressed and so grateful that somebody would put it out there for free I had to join cnet and leave my first review. Thank you for your fine work. -
"Best FREE riff learning tool"
Version: BestPractice 1.03
Pros
Simple to use
Excellent features
No spam or problems
It's FREE!!!Cons
A play list might be nice, but not absolutely necessary
Sound sometimes gets a little digital when slowing down the song a ton, but you can still hear the notes. Plus it's free so who caresSummary
Very simple program, easy to run. The loop is excellent especially when your really trying to nail a certain solo in a song. It could be useful for bass and drums as well. I definitly would recommend this as opposed to spending $50 for a more flashy program. Might as well give it a try! it's free.....

Summary
