Classic arcade fans will love this game, and we'll bet that even the most advanced gamers will enjoy it too. The gameplay consists of strategically placing bombs to blow up aliens before they get to you. With a classic arcade feel, the game is fully 2D, offering smooth sprite-based animations, eight soundtracks, 80 levels of bomb-exploding action, and a final "Boss" character that will challenge your bombing skills. We like this game not only because it allows us to relive the good old days; it offers plenty of action for beginners to even the most seasoned, trigger-happy veterans.Publisher's description
From Factor Software :BOOM is an arcade game in the grand tradition, bringing the playability and feel of the glorious 8-bit consoles on the Macintosh.
It can be described as "Bomberman meets Doom". Actually, I took the basic Bomberman idea and dropped it in a "Super-Deformed Doom" scenario (whatever this means). As a space trooper your mission is to penetrate 8 alien infested areas, each one divided in 10 sub-zones, eliminate all enemies using your bombs and finally kick the Big Alien Boss back to where he came from.
BOOM's main features are:
- Smooth sprite based animations in 256 colors
- 8 soundtracks and multi-channel sound effects
- Simultaneous two players action
- 80 different levels
- 10 different enemy characters varying in intelligence and weaponry
- Mid-game monsters and a final Super Boss
- Online high scores
What's new in this version:
- Fixed an issue that caused the monitor color depth not being properly restored after changing the option for setting the display to thousands of colors while in full screen.
- Fixed the URL for downloading the game when a new version is available.
- Improved error handling while purchasing the game via the Kagi Registration Module.
- The KRM has been reverted to version 1.0.6 due to unsolved problems with version 1.0.7.
- Updated Help.
