Screensavers are among the most common pieces of software online, and a host of tools exist to help create them. But this download stands out from the crowd, scoring big points for its versatility, feature set, and ease of use. In its most traditional mode, it allows users to create screensavers from a set of images, setting transition effects and image duration. The time that an image stays on the screen can be set to match an included soundtrack. It does lack an internal image editor that would help rotate, resize, or crop pictures, however. The software is not confined to photos, allowing users to create screensavers from video files, Flash movies, and even Autodesk animations. It even allows some basic creation of new animations. The final, professional-looking output is produced as an SCR file or an installer. A shareware protection feature allows users to distribute and sell their creations. All told, we see this as one of the best utilities in its category, and would happily recommend it to anyone who wants to create their own screensavers.

  Version: Axialis Professional Screen Saver Producer 3.64

  "Even Corporate Version "Watermarks" your work."

  Pros: Easy to use, doesn't seem to be much learning curve. Price discrepancy -- it's currently "$39.99" to buy (at the time of this post), not "$34" as mention in this listing on download.com. And that price is only for the PERSONAL edition, with only some features enabled, as in the 30-day trial. That said, I would recommend this product for any hobbyist wanting to make their own screen savers to show off to family and friends, but not to sell professionally.

  Cons: The Corporate Version, which currently costs $69.99 is the one that you pay for to have ALL the features unlocked, to be used for commercial purposes. That part is fine, EXCEPT that even with the Corporate Version, the program STILL puts "Made By Axialis" on your end result, that can not be removed. Not a "watermark" per se, but any user / customer of YOUR work sees it was made by Axialis. Imagine if Photoshop or VB.Net branded YOUR compiled work with their company name.
