  Summary

  This is by far the best uninstaller I've used. The only three programs I'm aware of which only track changes made by the installer are Mirekusoft Install Monitor, CRYSTALIDEA Uninstall Tool and Ashampoo Uninstaller. Ashampoo Uninstaller seems to be based on CRYSTALIDEA Uninstall Tool and they share the same technology. So you can make your joice between Ashampoo Uninstaller and CRYSTALIDEA Uninstall Tool depending on the price and/or which user interface you like better. All other tools I've tested are either using heuristics to cleanup leftovers or are using snapshots (Total Uninstall) or are simply monitoring system changes (Advanced Uninstaller PRO, Revo Uninstaller Pro) unconditionally. You can check this if you change for example HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound\Beep to "no" while an installation is monitored. This change won't show up in the Ashampoo Uninstaller log but it will be logged for example by Revo Uninstaller Pro.

  I highly recommend you try Ashampoo UnInstaller 5. See for yourself the high quality of this product . Work quickly, cleanly and with precision German Do not worry! The software is clean, no adware, no spyware, no leaves residue after uninstallation . I uninstalled and installed Ashampoo UnInstaller the 3 times to convince me ( tested search with CCleaner, Bitdefender and Advanced Uninstaler Pro)

  Ashampoo products become better and better! You should consider the opportunities of cooperation with Ashampoo Software. The products are affordable, high quality and very gentle with the computer hardware. I am a Windows user, with little money, who cares about his computer. So - when I recommended something , I know about what talking . And a double advice: DO NOT uninstall the new generation of applications without specialized software uninstaller ! DO NOT use Uninstallers Free from companies that are born and disappear overnight ... Programs for uninstaler will have access to all files on the computer , so it is necessary to know : who is the manufacturer of the software , to be serious, to provide technical assistance, update ... ect. Ashampoo is a trust solution for me !

  Pros

  5 is much faster in starting its monitoring than what versinos 3 and 4 were. The new design is attractive, intuitive, and easy to use.

  Cons

  Bugs, bugs, bugs. They did not work all of the bugs out before releasing it. It sometimes misses executable programs that begin installing (although it quickly caught Java installing behind the scene once), still the failure of monitoring known installations is bad enough. If you have a failed installation, it quits and records nothing, even though the failed program left garbage behind. If you try to install a large program, it stalls and then crashes your computer.

  Summary

  I have used Ashampoo Uninstaller for the past three versions (3, 4, and 5). I 've been a fan of self-monitoring uninstallers for over a decade and ran everything (Clean Sweep, Advanced Uninstaller, etc). I test the new against the old before switching and I measure the amount of garbage left behind before moving to a new uninstaller. ??With Ashampoo Uninstaller 5, I have mixed feelings. The past unistallers create a problem with lag time by taking a pre-installation snapshot to compare to the post-installation snapshot and then compare the all changes. Uninstaller 5 is fast, very fast. Ashampoo figured out how to solve the pre-installation snapshot lag. Fast does not always mean it is the best. Some programs that included the word "setup" in the execution file got missed by the Uninstaller monitor, so what good is a program if it fails to monitor an installation? ??Bugs I found are twofold, and this was consistent on two computers in the 40-day trial period running Win 7. On this, definitely try before you buy! The first problem is if you install a program that you are unaware of its incompatibility with Windows 7. Even though it partially installed and was monitored by Uninstaller 5, when the program failed, then the uninstaller quit and recorded nothing, yet a lot of junk went on the HDD. The second bug is that it hangs it with some large programs that are built for Win 7! Once finished, Uninstaller 5 has you click "Stop," and it records everything. Well, sometimes it never quits recording. I mean, I walked away and came back a hour later and it was still running. When I attempted to find out why, my mouse moved, but the computer screen was crashed. No buttons worked and nothing was active except for the Uninstaller 5 icon. I forced a reboot in these cases and found that the monitor actually did record everything, but it crashed instead of quitting properly. I wrote to Ashampoo and, can you believe, they denied that this actually happened as if I were a novice or something. Kind of crazy, since I've been doing computers for 35 years. Shape up, Ashampoo, you used to be better than this. I'm going back to Uninstaller 4 until they fix 5.

• Loses track on restart

  Pros

  Fast. Cleaner interface than UI 4. Registry cleaner works pretty good. Easy to export text file of registry changes and file changes.

  Cons

  Loses track of changes if the program being installed requires a Windows restart in order to complete the install. No log file is created then. Not very discerning about changes to program after installation. It reports Nuance PDF Create 8 as being improperly uninstalled and says I need to let it clean up the uninstall. I did a repair reinstall only on Create 8. No uninstall was attempted. No provision to perform a before and after comparison in order to manually create a log file. No automatic way to use a registry change or file change text file (see pro comment) to perform a clean up of an uninstall that has gone wrong.

  Summary

  It's pluses are great but it's shortcomings are frustrating.

  Pros

  1. Extremely thorough uninstaller 2. Install monitor running is SysTray catches anything trying to install (Even if you are not trying to) 3. Like the option to save current config then install without the Wizard. 4. Just a damn fine program.

  Cons

  1. Comparing to other products takes longer to take snapshot of current config.

  Summary

  If you have absolutely no self-control and cannot wait an additional 10 second for the current configuration to load, don't buy Ashampoo 4, If you need or want to get rid of everything file and registry entry from a program you no longer want, this is the product for you. If you also like real live human beings answering question in tech support, Ashampoo is the right company to deal with. Go ahead and try Revo, IOBit and all the other uninstallers first and see what is left behind. Then try Ashampoo Uninstaller 4. You should be happy with the comparison and settle with Ashampoo.

  Pros

  - Tracks all changes made while installing software - Can create a reinstall executable when uninstalling software - The software offers other utilities - Can show all changes in a nice report.

  Cons

  - lengthens the install process by quite a bit if you have a large amount of storage space since it must take a snapshot of everything before and after install.

  Summary

  Worthwhile software that can get you out of a jam if something you install makes changes you did not expect.

  Pros

  Install progs and try them out knowing that if you hit any bugs or other issues, you can can do a clean and effortless UN-install. Even on progs that try to "embed" themsevles into your system. Impressive. You can disable the auto "UIWatcher".

  Cons

  Don't really like the auto "Installation Monitor", it allerts Ashampoo when you start installing something, causing it to jump in. I prefer to start Ashampoo myself to begin any new install, more reliable routine in my view. Just try it and see.

  Summary

  MAIN FEATURE - Traces program installations - Does clean un-installations using the trace log. (See how below.) Applying for the 30 day trial key is quick and easy, but don't do it too early or it chops the first 10 days short, so run that out first to get the full 40 days. And don't be in too big a hurry to buy this, Ashampoo sent me lots of discount email offers, even before the trial was over. QuickStart guide: Ashampoo installs with the Installation Monitor enabled. This is fine, all you have to do is start installing your new program and Ashampoo will jump in asking whether or not you want it monitored. It's pretty straight forward, but personally I prefer to start Ashampoo's main window myself and install the new prog from there, less auto, more control, you'll prolly see why later. To do this just click "Installation Assistant", then click "Save Configuration", then wait for the next pop-up to start your install. Ashampoo minimises to the taskbar while you're installing the new prog. When you've finished installing and run the new prog, close it, then bring up Ashampoo and create the new Log. Also doing it this way you get to see the list of previous logs when naming the new one. Either way is good. NOTE; if you install a prog that wants to re-boot your comp to finish, click "NO, re-boot later," otherwise you won't get a chance to create your new log file. To disable the Installation Monitor, just right click it in system tray and hit exit. To make sure, see Settings in the File menu. Cheers.

  Pros

  Works well with Windows 7. once installations are log'd it's only "one Click to fully uninstall . The best de fragmenting system I have ever used.

  None.to date.

  Summary

  Having used a number of uninstall programs. I have found Ashampoo to be the simplest and most complete system. Upgrading from v3 to v4 was simple. with Ashampoo uninstaller I have never had to search for delinquent sections.
