Ashampoo Slideshow Studio HD is an intuitive program that allows users to create attractive, multimedia slideshows. Although nothing about it is particularly amazing, it's a good choice for users who want to create nice-looking slideshows without going to too much trouble.
The program's interface is intuitive, with several different easy-to-use sections. In one section users select the images they want to include in the slideshow, in another they can select a theme--birthday, breaking news, etc.--that will frame each image, in a third they can edit captions and other text, and in the fourth, a preview of the slideshow can be viewed. Users can select the transition effects that are used between each of the images or allow the program to select them randomly, and music can be added to the presentations as well. Once users are satisfied with the slideshow's appearance and audio, it can be processed into several different formats, including MPG, AVI, and WMV. A built-in Help file is fairly well-written and does a good job of explaining how the program works. Overall, although there was nothing particularly outstanding about it, we liked Ashampoo Slideshow Studio HD because it was easy to use and produced an attractive slideshow. It's not the best of the best, but it will meet the needs of most users.
Ashampoo Slideshow Studio HD has a 10-day trial period, and the trial version places a watermark on the program's output. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

This software was easy to use. Just drag a bunch of pictures, add some music (optional), and it burns a DVD with your slide show. Simple!
Cons
Do down sides really, if you just want a quick-n-dirty slide show.
Summary
This was half of the cost of competing software! If you need to make a slide show with background music, and not blow a lot of money, give this a go. You can also get a free trial for about a month.

Great flexibility many pros: transitions, ken burns, edge color from photo, flex on screen time, ease of use, down loads and burns many modes; even blue ray. Had problem when first tested; customer service prompt & correct in problem solution. A+5/5

After testing all the trials from many companies, I found Studio HD-2 was the best regardless of price, but it requires your Optical (DVD) drives have up to date BIOS. That fixed that. Time to compile is long, so go do something else while it works.
Summary
Look no further for a better program, it would be a waste of time, believe me I wasted a lot looking at others. Price was not a consideration, but this was one of the lowest. For the future, it will burn BlueRay HD; for nowit does great using standard DVD. (Again must have up to date BIOS mine did not so I got a new drive and problem was solved. Customer service gave directions for BIOS update promptly) This is not an ad,,, it is real, yep, great.
I liked the little things: if there is a vertical shot, most fill the edge space with black. Ashampoo examines the photo, picks a color from the photo and then fills the empty space and can add vignetting shadow. Great look. -
