Billed as "an all-in-one application for organizing, editing, sharing, and presenting photo collections," Ashampoo Photo Commander makes some big promises. Ultimately it delivers, but this isn't a program for the casual user.
The interface struggles to present the various (and numerous) options. It's overwhelming at first, and with so much going on, the black background makes it a little difficult to read. "How-to" pop up windows were a welcome sight, and they helped us get our bearings. Presentation issues aside, the program really proved its stuff in action. Photos are easily imported and scanned into the program. There are tons of options for adding effects and manipulating photo images, and even with a generous 40-day trial period, you won't be able to explore them all fully. We were impressed that when a specific image is selected, it appears with pixel, color depth, dpi, and memory information also displayed. We were able to easily turn image galleries into slide shows and burn them onto a CD. You can even add new images to your collection with the program's screen capture tool, an extra we appreciated.
Along with the wizard-like how-to guides, the program also offers a comprehensive Help file. Even with the extensive user guidance, the interface will likely make novice users shy away. For more experienced users willing to spend time mastering the busy interface, the program offers a very effective set of photo management tools.

I have the new version 10 of this program and like all the Ashampoo products I've used over the past few years I continue to love this program and it is one of the first to go on all my Systems that I run. Love the new Interface and Desktop Icon in this version. Many always mention this product as a Photo this and a Photo that. Photo Commander doesn't just handle your Photos but pretty much all your Media (Photos, Videos and Music). The thing I like a lot in this version is I can create Gif files. Another thing I love in this version my Photos come up looking so big and life-like. As a matter of fact I am so fond of this product I "Always" set it as my default Photo Viewer since version 5. Like others have said Ashampoo offers a price you just can't beat and it is like this on all their products.

Not one thing bad to say here, Only need to take this product Mobile, Especially on Mobile Units such as the iPads and Etc.

The very best for your hard earned dollars. Went on all my running Systems and it stays on all my running Systems since version 4. The best in my own opinion for creating Calendars and doing Photo Mixes. Real simple, Real fast..... It get no better than this and now with version 10 you can have all your content arranged by the dates added making everything easier to find. The rating and filters are an added plus. This is one of those very rare programs that comes along every once in a lifetime that you just got to own. First of all you have to really think about all that you are getting and think about the price being offered. I mean you are getting programs inside of one simple and so easy to use program. You have your Calendar Maker, Photo Collage Maker, Gif Maker the popular Panorama Maker and the list just goes on and on all for just a few bucks. It's like getting all this other Software for free and having less clutter on your System at the very same time. From what I see here Ashampoo is one of those extremely rare Companies that looks out for the people more so than themselves such as with the Software giveaways and loading their Software down with great features, Mainly the Software inside of Software thing and it's reasons like these that get them 5 Stars from me each and every time.

I'm considering buying this product but can anyone comment on the slideshow facility? I've been very disappointed in Ashampoo's slideshow software ever since their better than average Ashampoo Burning Studio Version 8. For no apparent reason they dropped the "Pan & Zoom" facility for a so-called "Ken Burn's Effect" which is rubbish.
