Editors' Review

From burning music and images to copying data and creating cover art, Ashampo Burning Studio 15 manages to offer enough features and options to make more experienced users happy while keeping it all accessible.

Pros

Clean layout: Ashampoo Burning Studio's initial window presents the eight main options clearly under four categories, such as Burn or Design & Print. There are also links to buy the software or see others by the same publisher under Service. A new window opens for each of the options, and they all have the same basic file menu at the top, over the main window.

Flexible process: For the most part, novice users will need to make few if any changes to the default settings for projects like ripping a music CD. Ashampoo Burning Studio uses a wizard-like approach, so you aren't overwhelmed with choices in multistep processes. Advanced settings are easily accessed, but they don't get in the way.

Functional output files: From music files to image files, the duplicates worked just as well as the originals.

Extensive Help files: If you get stuck or don't understand a specific feature, the Help files are well-written and very helpful.

Cons

Cross-selling: It's a minor issue, but during the installation, you're offered another software to check your drivers. Fortunately, the default setting is "No, thanks," so there's nothing you need to watch out for. And other than links to buy this and other software in the main window, there are no other product pushes.

Bottom Line

Ashampoo Burning Studio 15 gets high marks for its ease of use and features. It's not a free application, and there are some decent freeware alternatives available, but its overall approach and flexibility make it well worth the cost.

Editors' note: This is a review of the full version of Ashampoo Burning Studio 15. The trial version is limited to 30 days.

"Nice try!!"

June 07, 2015  |  By robertd903

2015-06-07 05:56:26  |  By robertd903

 |  Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 15 15.0.4

Pros

Not VERY expensive;
Technical support not bad.

Cons

>Troublesome to get going--frequent "License cannot be activated..." messages;
>"Hog-ties" system resources--make sure you DON'T have anything else to do when (if you actually get around to) burning discs;
>IF you are able to get to burn BLU-RAY discs, don't expect to be done in anything LESS than 12 hours;

Summary

If you are VERY patient, and don't mind going back and forth with technical support (just about every time you want to burn a disc)--this MAY be the right program for you.

Otherwise, look elsewhere!!!!!

"It's free. But so is the static."

April 10, 2015  |  By mutaulgia

2015-04-10 10:36:22  |  By mutaulgia

 |  Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 15 15.0.2

Pros

Simple, intuitive navigation. Ideal burner for audio cds but for one thing ...

Cons

ABS inserts brief snippets of "static" about midway on *every* audio cd (haven't tested it on anything else). Doesn't matter what track, playlist, cd media type or even computer (verified on notebook and desktop). Static completely absent on audio cds created w/other burners, ex. Nero, CDBurnerXP etc., using exact same songs/playlists.

Summary

Loved this product as an ABS newbie. Just disappointed ABS chose this "method" to protect itself against copyright, DRM issues. Caveat emptor.

"Acceptable quality CD burning/ LOTS OF ADVERTISING!"

December 12, 2013  |  By stevecobb

2013-12-12 07:59:49  |  By stevecobb

 |  Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 14.0.1

Pros

Does an acceptable job of burning CDs, but the quality is not that great. Not as easy to use as my old Roxio burner. Also, you will be absolutely swamped with Ashampoo ads in your email and on screen when you burn CD's. I'm looking for something else.

Cons

Lots of advertising, not so easy to use.

Summary

I think you can do better for burning audio CD's.

"Easy Reliable Burner"

July 22, 2012  |  By Mourieres

2012-07-22 23:48:11  |  By Mourieres

 |  Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 11.04

Pros

I don't use many of the tools But what I do use has never given me the smallest problem and I have had all versions since 5 I think.
I remember CD burners costing £200 pounds and you got more failures than successes.

Cons

Compact mode is a nuisance and won't go back to full mode. Avoid.
Otherwise none.

Summary

Better than Nero and cheaper. Well worth the money.

 |  Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 11.04

Pros

Flawless in almost every way. The interface is clean and easy to understand. The burning part works beautifully and the basic DVD creation is really handy!

Cons

Doesn't convert nearly as many formats as I would like it to!

Summary

All in all; BUY IT! You will NOT regret it!
