Publisher's Description
From Code Line Communications:
Art Files is a stand-alone application that takes the tedious task of collecting Illustrator documents, linked images and fonts for graphics files and turns it into a simple point & click operation. Rather than focus on the in-depth "preflight" nitty-gritty that other applications have done in the past, Art Files focuses on gathering just the information you need to get your files packaged up for your service provider.
Art Files also has the unique ability to collect several documents at once, saving precious time when only minutes stand between overnighting your artwork to the printer and having to hire a high-price door-to-door courier to meet your deadline. In addition to saving time, this feature also cuts down on disk space by collecting shared images and fonts between documents only once.
Art Files is perfect for production artists or anyone who works with graphics files and needs the portability of sending documents to others for editing or printing. Its simple, straight-forward user-interface is sure to make file collection nightmares a thing of the past.

"Must Have For Serious Production"
Version: Art Files 2.2
Pros
This functionality should have been added by Adobe years ago. Thank God for Codeline. 20 of us use this daily. It grabs the fonts, the links and packages the files like InDesign does on its own.
Cons
This is not a con, but a wish. If it could be a plugin instead of a separate app, it would cut out a step.

"Crashes every time on CS2 large doc"
Version: Art Files 1.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have a map that's a fairly complex doc. The program has crashed every time I go to scan the file. CS2/OSX.
For $50, the idea is that this program could gather all the fonts and so forth together. I can do the simple docs myself. This is over-priced and under-written, IMHO. -
"Art Files User"
Version: Art Files 1.1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have been using this product for several years and it does what it says. It has made the collection of my files,(fonts, images, etc) extremely easy. Also found several little extras that I was not aware when I first started using it. I use the notes function religiously, with the contact info, special instruction, etc...I have no reservations about recommending this product. Also, I have never had any bad experiences with their customer support. They have always been very helpful. This program makes it extremely easy to send large projects to my printer. LOVE IT. I have just downloaded the new version and will update my review based on the new release. -
"Works great. Support not so great."
Version: Art Files 1.1
Summary

Says what it does, does what it says. Occasionally it will be unable to locate a link for some reason, but you can always find it manually and fix it easily.
Support via the developer's message board seems to fall on deaf ears. There are a few weird things that the app does by default (Prompt you to save? Why?) that have received comments on the message board and not been addressed. -
"Great end result!"

After many design revisions my Illustrator file with Tiffs, PSD's, and other misc pix.... Collected them all fonts & images no trouble. Thanks for the quick fix to my "now where the hell did I put that" problem. -
"Does not recognize PSD files..."

This software seems interesting , but it does not recognize linked photoshop files in the document. Until this is fixed, it is somewhat useless. -
"It does not seem to work with illustrator CS2"
Version: Art Files 1.1b1
Summary

Art Files does not seem to work with illustrator CS2. If I save a file down to CS1 it works properly. I have written the developer twice with support questions but have recieved no reply. -
"Very misleading..."
Version: Art Files 1.0.4
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is very misleading. You have to manually add your Illustrator documents, one by one. Based on the description, I was under the impression that the program would scan your hard drive for all Illustrator docs and create a catalog for you. Not the case.
Also, and this was addressed by someone else, it doesn't "see" EPS files and it only finds Illustrator documents that are made with version 8 or higher. I have a bunch in version 7, so the app doesn't "see" those either. This is serious!
Perhaps the author would resolve these issues, and then I would be happy to re-evaluate it and submit a positive review. -
"Beautiful!"

Works well now on my 10.3.3 system with Illustrator CS. Paid for it and happy with it! -
"Itsagoody"
Version: Art Files 0.9.2 (v20)
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
for $25? not bad value in my book, will pay for itself after about 3 bits of packaging I think. I know people who make catalogues in AI, page by page; they're more patient than I, but this would be a godsend to them.
I like its simplicity, and it does what it says nicely.
No problems running it for me.
