"Great For Easy Sites, But Not For Advanced Webmasters"
Version: Apple iWeb 3.0.4
Pros
-Easy to use drag and drop interface
-Very customizable
-Import media with the Media Browser in iLife
-Publish to FTP server or local folder (MobileMe is fading, so that is not good for hosting..)
-Takes very little time to make with the various themes
-No knowledge of HTML, Java, or CSS required.
-Makes embedding/using gadgets very easyCons
-Does not allow HTML editing; you must get a text editor, and revise after you publish the site
-Can be fussy about opening a different Domain file than the one it usually uses
-Sometimes loses items on the page when publishing
-No drop-down menusSummary
If you don't like to work with code, this is the perfect site builder for you. It's intuitive interface, drag and drop gadgets, easy publishing, and ability to do a lot of customizing is great.
However, it is not good for a professional design suite (obviously). It does not allow coding, which can get annoying.
All in all, a GREAT product for people to use to create easy websites.
The Bottom Line:
Does exactly what it's supposed to do, but it would be great if it could do a bit more complex things. -
