After installing Broadband Tuner, my numbers are the same-- no difference. HOWEVER, I can now view Windows Media Player files, within Safari, all the way through without the player STALLING OUT because of BUFFERING. This is the only software I have downloaded recently, so I am sure that Broadband Tuner has improved the WMP (within Safari) experience for me.

Have to report that Broadband Optimiser works bettr with a noticeable increase in page renders and speed testers. try both and make up your own mind as both are free and easy to install/uninstall. pity as a new direction for Apple. I did this, from 3 servers, and got significantly worse results on download speed and about the same speed on upload with this thing installed. I run a wireless network with an airport express as a bridge, which hurts bandwidth a little. I alternated with it installed, then uninstalled, and did this twice.

Before Apple Broadband Tuner - 3449.9 kbps After .... 1500 kbps I know, slow down a fast connection and the slow software will seem snapier???? Thanks guys.

I just got my private Broadband connecton updated to a whooping 100Mbps (thank god I live in sweden, the home of raindeers, great cell-phones and high speed internet), but I was a bit dissapointed since I did not notice any major increase in speed. Usually I got 400-800Kbps, and now I got 1-2Mbps (witch of course is fast, but not near 100Mbps). But when installning Broadband Tuner it skyrocketed! I think my Hd can not write as fast as my downloads ;-)

For instance loading many web pages in several tabs at once is almost instantaneous and my collection of activated internet-using Dashboard widgets will jump alive very fast after a restart of my machine. No negative effects so far.

Optimize your broadband connection.

The Broadband Tuner allows you to take full advantage of very high speed FiOS based Internet connections that have a high latency. The installer tweaks some system parameters. There is an optional uninstaller that can be used to restore the settings that were in effect at the time just before the system parameters were changed.The installer increases the default values for the size of the TCP send and receive buffers. With larger buffers more data can be in transit at once. A startup configuration file is also updated so that these changes will persist across restarts.The system parameters are sysctl variables that are set as follows:net.inet.tcp.sendspace: 131072net.inet.tcp.recvspace: 358400kern.ipc.maxsockbuf: 512000This change has a system wide effect and is applied even if the network is not high speed connection with a high latency, with the exception of modem connections for which the system uses small default TCP buffer sizes.
