There's something refreshing about the publisher's description of this free search tool. The creator freely admits that the pared-down utility doesn't beat Windows' built-in search functionality. And they're right. The no-frills interface mirrors the simplistic search capabilities; it's just the basics.
Advanced Search's claim to fame is its ability to batch move files from one folder to another. It does this fairly well, and it may save you a bit of time over using Windows tools. But the app's search capabilities are very limited and only allow you to specify the directory and file type. As a result, you'll find little reason to use Advanced Search if you're just doing a search.
If you frequently move files around on your PC, this utility improves on the process a bit. If you want truly advanced search features, you'll be sorely disappointed. Advanced Search is suitable for users of all skill levels, but isn't likely to knock anyone out.
From Dojotech Software:
Advanced Search is a fairly simple application that allows you to recursively search for files using a basic filter. You can also batch move files from one folder to another folder based on a file filter. It's really not much better than Windows Explorer except for the batch move feature.
