"Great new features in Captivate 7!"

    January 29, 2014   |   By bajenkins

    Version: Adobe Captivate 5.5

    Pros

    Ability to create drag-and-drop interactions
The addition of multiple interaction tools, such as tabbed lists and glossaries
    Built in themes
On-screen simulation recording with ability to record as videos or training demos
Enhanced audio editing features (compared to previous versions)

    Cons

Some of the interaction tools are not as modern as other eLearning programs, and the styles need improvement. Still, there is flexibility built into the software to modify the look of the interactions.

    Summary

    Overall, great product!

"Great teaching tool if you devote time to learn it."

    May 18, 2012   |   By Zaqueo

    Version: Adobe Captivate 5.5

    Pros

Simple and direct in creating Quizzes and lessons
    Great user's support.
    Has numerous advance(script and variables)capabilities
    Multi-platform delivery (windows, mac)
If using it commercially, then the price is right
    No problem with WIN 7-64
Almost limitless as a teaching tool

    Cons

Limitation on Quiz slides unless you use the advance interaction.

    Summary

I've been using Captivate since CP4, CP5.5 is an incredible step up in ease of use, performance and advance functions. I did not use CP4 commercially because of numerous limitations, but CP5 offers so much that I started migrating most of my publications to SWF and FLV for the Windows and Mac platforms. Great work Adobe

"Very disappointed, poor performance, limited capability"

    December 13, 2011   |   By yipiyayo

    Version: Adobe Captivate 5.5

    Pros

Able to convert commonly used PowerPoint presentation into static image and include the questions created by build-in quiz function
Able to create video tutorials for software.

    Cons

    Poor performance
Timeline hide/show and lock always behave incorrectly
    No zoom to display canvas
    Cannot lock objects
    Cannot group objects
Align tools don't behave accordingly at times
Rollover for image is different from buttons
No drawing tools, to create even a simple rectangle.(Basic shapes)
Cannot have interactive object in master slide

    Summary

Basically its exactly the same as a PowerPoint, just with added video export and quizzes.
Its a program meant for dummy who can't use more powerful application for better interactivity.
If its just for simple animation, video tutorial or presentation with add-on quiz capability, use it.
Otherwise there's plenty better other tools out there.
The money is just not worth when you can make do with simple PowerPoint presentation.

    "Easy to use animator software"

    June 20, 2010   |   By MadPenny42

    Version: Adobe Captivate 4

    Pros

    Easy to use

    Cons

There are a few small things I would like to see the user being able to customize, but all in all great!

    Summary

This software was very easy to use and user friendly. I'd never had any training on how to use it and I was able to open it up and make a training video. It was very self explanatory.
