  Pros

  - Supports and recovers many types of files - I bought a Pro version which comes with a boot disk creator which installs a small OS with Undelete on a USB drive. Very helpful if you want to recover data from a system partition or repair MBR. - Price (paid it $40)

  Cons

  - UI can be better and filtering deleted files can also be made a bit easier (everything works though)

  Summary

  Excellent product with a very reasonable price. I have managed to recover my whole partition with all of its files without any issues. Highly recommended!

  I needed it once and it did not work so there is no pros

  Cons

  I deleted a file on Win7 desktop and emptied the recycle bin, then I wanted to recover it. The file did not appear in the scan.

  Summary

  It doesn't recover recently deleted files. Even the file NTFS entry is not detected in the scan.

  Pros

  Fairly powerful tools, interface OK. Just remember that after a few days/weeks of PC use, many files can be irretrievably overwritten and this software can't perform miracles.

  Cons

  The trial versions of other apps like Recuva are as much or more effective. Trial version of this one is highly crippled. Beware of this company: I needed to reinstall the standard edition that I paid for and they wanted to charge $14.95 for an "upgrade". They even try to charge you $10 to change the email address that is attached to your order/reg key!

  Summary

  Worst experience I've ever had as a paid customer with a software vendor. There are a lot of better alternatives, this company doesn't deserve your money.

  After making a quick format from an external USB Disk I forgot to save some valuable data.I used their demo and it detected all the erased files but could not retrieve any as those were more than 64kb allowed by the DEMO so I purchased the program. I was quite confident as the status of the detected files was "healthy" under this program terms. Well....not a single files from the hundreds was recovered. All were corrupted ( word,pdfs,jpgs) So I can only say this program is not worth it. Look for another option if you need your files back, at least if it is from a formatted drive.

  This is complete solution. You can restore your hard drive/files without buying/downloading other software. Start with creating image of failed drive and work until you recover everything you need - all in one. <p>Intuitive interface lets you start using program within minutes. All recovery processes are accompanied by detailed information. <p>So, I loved this program... Probably because it saved me a lot of time and let me restore terabytes of valuable data that seemed to be lost after the worst hardware failure (ntfs volumes were allocated at SAN via iSCSI-targets). <p>Well, thank you LSoft! <p>PS: price is miserable for this piece of art in modern software world.

• Active@Undelete works but watch out for their sales policy

  I bought Active@Undelete after my fiancée accidentally deleted some files on a USB memory stick and I haven't looked back since.<p>Not only did it successfully recover the USB stick files, but I've also recovered CompactFlash files from my digital camera and also entire My Documents folder which I accidentally deleted. It basically does what it says on the tin!!!

  Cons

  However.....(and this is a big however)......what annoys me the most is the sales pitch. "All prices include free technical support and free updates."<p>Beware. It doesn't. You only get upgrades for the current version. Any additional versions will cost you a $14.95 upgrade charge. I find this wording unfair and totally misleading.<p>For this reason I can only offer it a 3 star rating since I don't like being cheated for something I buy.<p>A shame really, because it would otherwise be a fantastic piece of software.

• A scam of a product?

  It was able to find my recently deleted files.

  Immediately after accidentally deleting a folder, I paid for and installed the full version of Active Undelete from another drive, as they instructed.. It undeleted my files as promised, but all of them were in a corrupt and unusable state - my MPEG files had huge macroblocking, my Photoshop files were missing most of the layers, my MP3 files wouldn't open. I think it's a scam. It has now been months and the company hasn't answered any of my e-mails. I'm considering reporting them. Don't waste your time with the trial version, because it has the actual undelete feature disabled.
