All said, this chess sim strikes us as a worthwhile pick. Absolut Chess's 3D graphics and neat sound effects are more polished than we would have guessed initially. However, by default the game is rather dark, which makes it tough to see individual pieces. Thankfully, you can correct this by adjusting the brightness to your liking. You also can disable the sound effects, play in full-screen mode, and take back your own blunders. Still, we would like a feature for choosing from different boards, and a tutorial or rules would be beneficial to beginners. Though the game provides you with three formidable computerized opponents, you also can play against another human or compete in online matches. Experienced players who don't find the 10-use trial period unreasonable are likely to find that Absolut Chess makes a better choice than many similar games.Publisher's description
From Overlans Systems :Absolut Chess (AC) is a funny and complete chess game for all players. It allows battles in computers networks (LANs and the Internet), wherein your opponent plays remotely with you, or front-to-front battles, wherein the two players combat in a single computer. When the choice is to face the machine, AC presents three levels of difficulties that will prepare you for future fights.

Pros: Pretty good graphics.
Cons: I am not a PRO chess player but, I know the rules. This game cheats whenever it wants to.

Version: Absolut Chess 1.4
"Great game, doesn't handle full-screen well."
Pros: You can play in 3-D or 2-D. Has several levels of playing skill plus options to play computer or online opponent.
Cons: It doesn't display correctly in full-screen as the controls and dissplays on the bottom of the screen are cut off. There doesn't appear to be an easy way to change this, it would be nice to be able to use the maximize button and all of the screen would fit in.
