The purpose of this program is to find all mp3 duplicates on your computer and remove useless files from your hard drive. As this program performs just this single task it copes with it much better than other more universal programs. Version 2.5 has added iTunes M4A files.
It might have worked, it marked a lot of files. After I spent almost 3 hours finetuning the search and picking what I wanted removed, it removed them from being visible. The program however informed me it would not ACTUALLY delete them till purchase.
I now have over 1G of files I cant see floating around on my hard drives, and the only way to finish removing them is to buy the product. I wouldnt buy it now if you paid me to. Sounds underhanded to me.
Bottom line, it tries to show you what it can do, then moves files so you HAVE to buy their program, which I was going to do til I saw I still had the other files. Had no problem putting up with the annoying (very annoying!!) nag screen during initial run, but then the company did that. Now I have to find something to finish the job, because I REFUSE to pay a company with mafioso like tendencies.

I found it if you actually look on your harddrive, there are files with nonsense names that cannot be read. Those are the files the program has partially hidden. Delete them, and they are gone and you get your hard drive space back. Those that said their files were now nonsense were probably trying to play the half deleted files. It workds though, I just tested it.
It does catalog up to a point, but requires perfect ID tags to function.
Program crashes frequently after attempting to catalog files; cites out of memory errors or index out of bounds. Filenames are completely ignored as well as folder systems, so if ID3 tags are not PERFECT in every single MP3 file you will get a massive horrendous mess of completely useless results. Uses outdated Windows help file system, database will not open properly without additional support in Vista or OSX. This company is apparently converting their apps to shareware, so don't get hooked if Freeware matters to you. I would NOT pay for this.
I downloaded the trial version after downloading and trying several other products. I found it quick and easy with enough detail to help me decide which mp3's I wanted to keep and which ones to delete. I decided to purchase this product and did so immediately. I had a little trouble getting my registered copy to acknowledge it was registered so emailed customer service on a weekend and to my surprise got an email back with solutions immediately. I still needed a little more help so emailed again and once again received an immediate email with not only my problem addressed but a link to a customized download for me. Support from AbeeTech is as great as the product itself. MP3 Duplicate Finder by AbeeTech is a SUPER product I can't say enough good things about this product and AbeeTech's support.
this product does live up to its name and reputation. for those of you, like me, that have downloaded tons of music over the years and have many duplicate songs, it is time to clean up.
i was looking for an application and this is the one... you need not look any longer.
the one downside for me was the price. this application does "just one task" and as such, i find the price expensive... BUT, i still recommend this due to its "cleansing" effect that you will get when your computer is cleaner and organised.
