CNET Editors' review
Windows is so full of fonts that they'd fill a warehouse if they were cast-metal typesets, but it doesn't go out of its way to make them easy to manage. That's where tools like AMPsoft's AMP Font Viewer come in. Font Viewer can install and uninstall fonts, sample them, and organize them into categories. This lightweight freeware is compatible with nearly every version of Windows still in use, even 9x releases from the 1990s. Regular updates are logged on the program's Web site. We tried Font Viewer in 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.
Font Viewer is light and fast, and it opened almost the instant we clicked its desktop shortcut. The ReadMe file serves as Font Viewer's Help file, with installation and usage tips, recommendations for users of various Windows versions, and a list of known issues related to certain font types.
All our fonts were displayed in a browserlike screen overlaid by a window, the Interchange Window, which resembles an enhanced Save File dialog box. The main view has separate tabs for managing installed and not-installed fonts. A file menu accesses all functions: Edit, Format, View, Options, and so on. A scrolling fonts menu next to a preview pane displays each font in two sentences containing each letter of the English language alphabet, as well as buttons for Bold, Italic, Underline, Size, Color, and ANSI characters. Font Viewer displays information about each font, including its type and any available subfamilies. The Not Installed fonts tab has a complete tree view for quickly finding and installing new fonts. We really appreciated being able to install fonts temporarily, not to mention the option to remove all temporary fonts at once.
AMP Font Viewer is excellent for getting an overview of your fonts as well as adding new fonts and removing unnecessary ones. It won't change the fonts Windows and your other programs use; you'll have to do that on case-by-case basis. But Font Viewer certainly makes it easier to view, sample, and install new fonts.

Version: AMP Font Viewer 3.86
Pros

Cons
That when using it if you close the window and did not install the font in PSP the font will no longer be in PSP. So just to not close AMP, Until your done with the font.

"More features than any other free font manager"
Version: AMP Font Viewer 3.86
Pros
View all fonts in a folder at once
Categorize your fonts
Temporarily install fonts
Preview fonts using your own sample textCons
Cannot categorize not-installed fonts
Summary
This is pretty robust for freeware. As a designer, I have found it endlessly useful for selecting fonts to use in my projects.
It allows you to view, install, and uninstall fonts, and, most usefully in my book, organize your uninstalled fonts in categories.
Unfortunately, you cannot categorize the fonts that are not installed. If this feature were included, I would easily give this program 5 stars. -
"Amp Font Viewer 3.86 Nice Font Viewer"
Version: AMP Font Viewer 3.86
Pros
If you have never used a Font Viewer where you can browse to any folder before installing a font you might not want, this is the program for you. Price is right and one of the best one's I have tried. You can view all fonts or individually. It also gives you a list of the fonts installed and those not installed along with font family info. One can also copy a list of all your fonts, search for fonts, plus you can set the font size in the viewer. Also under organize you can delete a font, add a font
Best little program I've used in a long time.Cons
I really can't say anything on cons, most do not have what this program has
Summary
I like it and will continue to use it, would recommend for those who want more information about fonts, really has a lot of nice features to it.Give it a try.

"Constantly stops responding"
Version: AMP Font Viewer 3.86
Pros
Nice way to view several fonts at once.
Cons
When installing fonts stops responding and must be killed. Font viewing and installing interface feels limited for the accessing the several thousand fonts I have.
Summary
Functional, but has a few flaws that limit its usability.

"Great nuts and bolts font manager BUT..."
Version: AMP Font Viewer 3.86
Pros
Very fast, does not need to scan your fonts like Nexus. Stripped down. No flash.
Cons
I can't seem to get it to allow grouping/categorizing of UNinstalled fonts. If it can actually do this - then it's the best manager out there. If not - NOT.
Summary
I have been trying to get my head around a good Font organizer for years. I've been using FV for a while now, but am frustrated because I need to group fonts by category. All the info seems to indicate that it is possible, but I can't seem to get it to work with UNinstalled fonts that aren't in the system folder. Grouping installed fonts is helpful too, but the whole reason to have a font viewer that installs fonts on the fly or temporarily is to not bog down the system. Which means it would be fairly crucial to organize/categorize/preview the fonts BEFORE you install them. So is this possible with AMP? I like this program better than most others, for speed etc. but I can't get it to do this one thing.
Thanks for any help.
Regards.

"Good Item!"
Version: AMP Font Viewer 3.86
Pros
It brought more order to my font selection procedures.
Cons
It isn't completely automatic, but considering it's a freebie, I can live with having to think a little and do a some input..
Summary
I actually use it and it does a pretty good job. I do some for hire photography so it's nice to have something like this to help out. It was an instructor in a Photoshop class who first got me on it.
