Return to the carefree days when encryption tools only took plain text and turned it into a mish-mash of characters. Executable freeware AES (256bit)'s interface is just a two field/two button dialog box. One field is for text to encrypt and the other for the password. The two buttons make it easy to encrypt or decrypt text.

Two fields, two buttons, and no need to read the manual. Paste the text to encrypt, enter a password and immediately see the encrypted text. Decrypting just reverses the easy process.

It's easy to use the program to send quick encrypted messages to friends, and it doesn't them anything to have this freeware application on hand. This is the simplest of tools in terms of features, but that's more than half its beauty. It's small, secure, and effective, and anyone can use it.

Insecure. Would not recommend .

Insecure. No IV.
Summary
The same text with the same key always gives the same ciphertext. It seems different initialization vectors are not used. Text encrypted with this software is not secure, and other, just as small and simple, programs do not have this flaw.

After it installs, it doesn't run. There is no option to encrypt a file when I right click on a file. I installed again, it was smart enough to see that I already installed it. For some reason it must be incompatible with WIndows 8.1 as shipped out of the box.
Summary
Not compatible with Windows 8.1 out of the box. Probably needs some undocumented Windows tweak to actually work.

Pros
This is just a simple piece of software that let's you encrypt strings using AES. If you are working on an implementation of AES, it's the perfect tool for validating that your encryption algorithm is working correctly.

Well, I'll be darned... 256bit AES "TEXT" Data Encryption!!!! All that power for "TEXT" data no less! Hey! This software really does one hell of a job! <p> <p>Can't even break any of the "TEXT" documents I encrypted with it by using decryption programs.... Which means it's really tough. That's a good sign. <p> <p>A Good and very powerful program to have. <p> <p>Definite recommend.

No cons. It does EXACTLY what it says it can do... Which is to encrypt "TEXT" data. I'm glad I took the time to READ the 'product description', otherwise I might be led to think it was meant to encrypt more than just "TEXT".
