Can't get anything good out of this - I feel ripped off. Who wrote this program the MPAA?

I got a series of files - not a whole complete copy. First scene was not the first scene in the movie, Didn't want to spoil the movie by checking scene by scene - should I have too? It ran all night and 2x it stalled in different places.
Summary
This might be worth the hassle for a couple bucks - but for $40 I feel like a complete fool for buying this software that froze the first time I used it. Restarted, it wouldn't reload - I reinstalled and updated. It froze again in a different place on the DVD after running nearly 24 hours. BTW I have a fairly up to date macbook pro with a ton of RAM and nothing else was running.
