Advanced users will like the flexibility of this fully functional freeware newsreader, but novices may find it confusing. 40tude Dialog's multiple windows, tabs, buttons, and pull-downs are sure to overwhelm some users. The program starts well with a wizard to set your news and e-mail servers. There is a quick start guide, but it's longer than some program manuals, so it isn't really very quick.
40tude Dialog performs the basics well. It grabs all available newsgroups from your server. It's easy to filter the list with a simple, but flexible, pull-down. Subscribing to a newsgroup takes just a double-click on the group name. Downloading all messages isn't as easy. You need to click one button first to get new headers for your groups, then select messages, and finally click another button to download the messages. That's a couple of steps too many. Still, experienced users will really like the flexibility of this application. Toolbars open to reveal sort and filter opens. Pop-ups explain hidden features.
40tude Dialog has really tried to fit in every option newsgroup readers may need. That makes it a great program for the dedicated and experienced reader, but novices and occasional readers may find it too much trouble.

What's new in this version:
This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
It likes to loose its config file, especially when terminated unexpectedly.
I use 40Tude Dialog for more that 3 years. I used many other newsgroup readers but this one is....it has something in it. Simple, easy to use, but powerful - tens of settings, customizable look and behaviour. It must tell you something in secret. I haven't found any better reader that Dialog. If you did, and it's also free, then let me know ;)
I've used older versions of this and think it's the best of any similar products I've used. I only use it for newsgroups although it can be used for email as well.
Be sure to see the con in this version below.
SuperAntiSpyware found Monitor.Invisible.Keylogger.i in this file. I don't know if it's a false-positive but it makes me nervous. I haven't found out much about it online. I went back to the previous version.
Easy to setup and use but be ready with what you want during setup: how many headers you want to receive, etc. Lots of layout options which is nice.

I want to make one correction: the spyware program that reported Monitor.Invisible.Keylogger.i was Spyware Terminator. It may or may not be accurate, there's not a lot online about this one.
