A smiling sun, an amber sky, and floating yellow flowers conjure up the lazy days of summer, but the pleasure of watching this screensaver soon fades. On the one hand, the combination of visuals, including animation, photography, and illustration, successfully conveys the mood. We initially found ourselves fixated on the languidly winking sun as it drifted across the screen through a cascade of realistic blossoms. But eventually we wanted more to happen. The mid-tempo melody can be toggled on or off (you can supply your own music if you prefer), and you can change the number of sunflowers, the brightness, and the tint, but those are the only customization options to speak of. Also, the trial version of 3D Good Ole Summer Time expires after a mere seven days. Sun worshipers may find this looping snippet satisfying, but others may wish for an early sunset.
