It has the ability to become a wonderful software but is not there yet.
Straightforward and easy to use - just list the words you want in your puzzle and click a few choices, and the software does the rest. A lot of fun, too! I've done Oscar word-searches and posted them on my personal website for friends to print out and play with a night or two before the Academy Awards, plus holiday-themed word searches on my website, as well as several for my family with names, streets, pets, etc. (my mom really likes word-searches). I'm currently working on one for my office's newsletter. You're only limited by your imagination! I also like that I can export the finished product to text, so I can insert it into a Word document and then add graphics, etc.
I have also had occasion to talk to their customer support and they were great - helped me out even though I'd originally gotten my software nearly three years ago!
At first blush the interface may feel a little bit arcane, especially where you have to decide how to export the puzzle. Just read the screen, though, and after you've done it a couple of times, you'll find the way that suits you best.
Also, be aware that the free demo will not let you export a complete puzzle. It really is a DEMO. If you think you'll have a use for the software, though, I enthusiastically recommend making the one-time investment.
There aren't many word search programs out there, but this one is definitely worth it! Good options, especially for exporting to a Word Document. Controls are a bit tricky, but you can get used to them. I recommend this to any educator!
I was a little hesitant about forking over the money for this but they do give a 25% discount to educators so I ended up with this program plus their crossword puzzle maker. I'm sure the students will love being able to use puzzles to learn!
This program makes creating puzzles fast and easy. A nice feature is the ability to define the directions of the word searches. You can create very easy to very difficult.
With my students I use it for chapter review--making it fun always encourages learning. And with my own kids I use it for rainy day activities, long-drive boredom busters, and sometimes within greeting cards to give them hints about their gifts. They just love that! It heightens anticipation. I'm sure I'll continue to find other ways to use this program to make life more interesting.
I use the Word Search Maker as a review before a chapter test by giving the students a clue. For example on the word search I will ask for the 16th. President of the USA, the student will find Abraham Lincoln. It is a great tool.
I WORK IN A ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND I MAKE THE KIDS PUZZLES. THEY JUST LOVE THEM. IN FACT WHEN I FORGET TO MAKE THEM THEY COMPLAIN.
extremely great acess
