At the moment, our Societyoperates over 50 service units offering a comprehensive range ofservices including workshops, hostels, training centres serving about4,000 persons with intellectual/physical disabilities, psychiatricdisabilities and autism. Our objectives are to develop the potentialof persons with disabilities and to enable them to achieve maximumindependence and become fully integrated citizens in the community.Our Society is committed to developing innovative services. Over theyears in the past, we have pioneered in establishing pilot services forpersons with intellectual disabilities, including temporary residentialcare service, home-based training and support, care and attentionhome, and extended care service in day centres. To carry forward,our Society has set up the Casa Famiglia which enables personswith intellectual disabilities to enjoy family life; established the firstdevelopment and support centre for adults with autism Hin DipCentre; set up Best Buddies Hong Kong Movement which is partof the international movement, originated in the U.S.A., to promotehundreds of one-to-one friendship between persons with and withoutintellectual disabilities. We also strengthen our community-basedsupport services to assist the families in providing care to personswith disabilities living in the community.
