SuperStars is a dynamic storybook application that allows parents and children to create a customized digital picture book together. SuperStars aims to build self confidence and positive behaviour in children from four to ten years of age.Your storybook will describe the childs strengths or positive personality characteristics. First, the childs name and photograph are inserted into their individualised book. You can then choose from a library of forty pre-prepared strengths that best describe the child to generate a complete book. The library of strengths include characteristics such as sharing, using good manners and displaying leadership skills. Each strength is accompanied by a cartoon illustration and a brief child friendly description. There is also an option to provide reward stars on each page to acknowledge when children use their strengths.SuperStars is designed for parents, teachers or counselors to guide children through the creation of their book together. Older children may be able to read their own book while younger children will read their book with an adult. Adults may choose to lock some options such as adding reward stars and editing books.SuperStars has been designed for use on ipads and ipad mini using iOS 7.As Ken Ferris, Child and Educational Psychologist says -"Taking a strength based approach focuses on what a child does well. You can shape positive behaviours and encourage your child to overcome difficulties with the strengths and skills they do well and have in abundance".
