Great Customer Support and very cost effective software

Pros
Sumac offers great software that is cost-effective for a smaller non-profit. Their customer support is always helpful and quickly and patiently answer all of our questions. While we don't use all aspects of Sumac's software, there are many components that we would like to incorporate into our practice.
Cons
Up until now, we have only had a Silver membership which would have Sumac installed for one user on one computer. We are looking forward to upgrading which will allow us to use Sumac, when a colleague is using the computer where it was installed.

Pros
Sumac offers a great day to day donor management platform that is relatively easy to learn. Support manuals are comprehensive and the staff are very helpful and responsive. Another great thing about Sumac is that requested program tweaks and changes are implemented in a very timely and responsive manner.
Other nice to haves include easy clean up of duplicate records, volunteer management module and a relatively straight forward user interface.
Cons
As I said before Sumac is great bang for the buck but just the same here's a couple of the drawbacks:
You won't get nice fancy graphs and charts with your analytics compared to more expensive software, but Sumac will export clean data to Excel if you need to make a chart or two. Their is currently no API for web based software so you will have to use the html code provided by Sumac for web pages which can limit some functionality. It's worth noting that any kind of web interface for the price is pretty good value.
The only other real con that comes to mind is that to send formatted emails, you have to build an HTML template (we use a template program called Seamonkey) outside of the software and use Sumac to send emails using the merged template.
If you can live with those, you will be pretty happy with this software.
Summary
In the end this software is well built and fairly easy to use. It does not have all the bells and whistles but it does have a number of very useful features. It is a great choice and excellent value for small to medium sized fundraising organizations.

Support is excellent! Sumac was very responsive to questions and also very responsive to suggestions. I am used to waiting months for changes to be made and with Sumac we see releases quite often that incorporate requested improvements.

I can't think of any.

This software is great value for your money. It has great features and is more reasonably priced than other packages.

When I recommend Sumac to colleagues at other not-for-profit organizations, the first thing I endorse is their terrific customer service which seems in tune and crafted perfectly for organizations with limited overhead and resources. Sumac support staff are responsive, approachable, knowledgeable, caring and willing to adjust programs so that they work for our organization, rather than our organization working around their system.

Summary
I can attest that improved efficiency in our data management and communications in the last five years is directly associated to Sumac. Most notably, it has assisted our strategies to more fully integrate audience development and private sector fundraising campaigns. Sumac fits our needs: it's cost-effective, easy-to-use, flexible and improves Crow's Theatre's organizational capacity.
