Redline is a racing game for Mac OS X that demonstrates just how much fun tossing polygons around at 200+ mph can be. With its advanced 3D rendering engine and a physics engine that ensures each car has a distinct feel, Redline also shows that running someone off of the road isn't just cathartic, it's downright fun. Gun the throttle, light up the tires, and hurtle down the track in any of the three racing modes Redline offers: the realistic Simulation mode, an aggressive Arcade mode, or kick it into high gear in the insanely intense Turbo Arcade mode. No matter what your pleasure, take your pick from numerous cars, tracks, and jump into a racing game that delivers adrenaline via digital injection. The real fun, though, is meeting nice people on the Internet and running them off of the road. Redline supports up to 12 people in a network race, either on a local network, or over the Internet. Meet up in the Lobby, pick a course, pick your cars, and recklessly slam your newfound "friends" into the guard rail in your quest for the coveted checkered flag. Pure pleasure is in the control. Redline models each wheel of your car independently, as well as the axle width and weight of each car, allowing for an unprecedented feel of the road. Accelerate your way into a corner, tap the brakes, cut the wheel at just the right time, then punch the throttle and power-slide your way to the finish line. Boooooyah! Redline features a dozen racing challenges such as acceleration, slalom, graduating you to real-world tracks with a variety of racing conditions. With each progressive challenge, your performance earns you new challenges, and new cars to drive. Your performance is also ranked among other Redline players from around the world via an Internet leader board.

Very disappointing as a \"simulation\"

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
THIS REVIEW APPLIES TO THE "SIMULATION" MODE ONLY. I did not test any other modes; they don't interest me. And basically, my conclusion is, don't even bother downloading the game if you're interested in a simulation.
Honestly, if you have a PC or an Intel Mac with Windows, instead I recommend downloading Live For Speed or ordering Richard Burns Rally from GoGamer. Both are much more impressive and can be had in the under $50 range (in fact, I believe I only paid $25 for RBR because its an older game).
- The game doesn't seem to recognize my Logitech wheel. This is NOT the Redline dev's fault as I don't think Logitech has a wheel driver for the Mac, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone thinks they can use their Logitech wheel.
- The AI seems more intent on crashing you rather than racing you. Off the line, they immediately involve themselves in a smashup derby fest that doesn't dissipate until the speeds of the various cars pull them too far apart to play at it anymore.
- There are no damage physics or damage penalties. You do at least seem to slow a little if you drive onto the dirt.
- The graphics are nice, but not amazingly impressive on the two races I could drive. Car models aren't very detailed and I saw some shadows in weird places (like projected onto the ground under a bridge the car was going over).
- The replay cameras drove me nuts the couple times I watched them. No way to switch cars that I found and no way to force it to stick with your car--who cares what the Mustang is doing if it's 100 yards back from you during the replay? Why not stick with the player car so they can see if their line looked decent or at least give them controls to do that?
- Not really sure about handling--there's only two cars in the demo and both are FF, I believe? The major diff seems to be that one has a turbo. Neither impressed me though as feeling highly realistic.
- The demo feels extremely limited. I won everything I could win after only a few tries and tossed it. I only mention RBR as an alternative to this game because there are locked tracks with snow and dirt that I can see but not touch in the menus.
Two stars for the pretty graphics, but as a sim it's a failure, imho.
Not controller friendly

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
So I plugged in my gamepad and expected it to work with Redline. First, it didn't recognize that the controller supports force feedback. Second, the game only allows assignment of the steering and acceleration/brakes, and only to analog controls, so it's impossible to play using manual shift or use the controller to navigate the menus. Third, no matter how many times I calibrated the joystick, the steering was never centered, which made in-game steering impossible. This game looks promising, but I think I'll wait for a version that has better gamepad support.
Great!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This game has just proven that awesome racing games aren't Windows/Console only and don't have to cost $59 to keep you entertained big time.
Been following the development and publications closely for quite a while - this was worth waiting for though. :)
Thank you Ambrosia.
