Switch from one sound card to another in one click.
QuickSoundSwitch is a small system tray tool, which allows you to switch the default sound device with only one click. It is useful for PCs with more than one soundcard (or for example soundcard + USB headset). A lot of Windows programs like games and media players are using the default Windows sound device. This utility saves you the trip to the Control Panel to change audio devices, but you still need to restart any audio programs you may have already opened in order for the switch to affect them. Version 1.03 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
I'm running Windows 7 but this program still seems to work on its own.
Cons
The program is old and outdated, but I searched -- with no luck -- for the original developer/owner of this software. Too bad since it still seems to work -- no changes appear to be needed for use in Windows 7 (or I'm just being naive)
Summary
When I plug in my Logitech Headset (microphone + earphones), I hear a quick note from my Toshiba Satellite L455-S5980 as it switches sounds from its external speakers to my "external" Logitech headset.
Not sure why it still works in Windows 7, but it seems to do that. I uninstalled it for a while, and when I plugged in the headset, I got NOTHING (no sound and no change). I did this a few times: install/uninstall... repeat 100X.
Between the 99th and 100th install, I read a little more about the application and what it should do when working (make a small sound, as it switches you over). So I got this on the last (and FINAL) install
That lead me to the conclusion that this software is actually doing "something", I just have to know ahead of time, what that "something" really is.
Does just what it says it does

Pros
Simple two step interface. Click the icon in your system tray, then select the sound card. No configuration required. Will even let you use one card for input audio, and another for output.
Cons
You'll manually have to set it to start with Windows (automatic startup). According to Dsuboski there is a virus if you click the "update" link, but the program seems perfect as is.
Summary
Awesome program. It does just what it claims to do. The interface is simple, anyone can use it. Just make sure to get your updates off of this website, and not from the "update" link in the program.
Virus included free if you click the update button!

Pros
Good small program, easily switches audio devices.
Cons
If you click the update button, a Trojan virus will be downloaded onto your computer, as per avast! ver. 4.8, as of 16 Nov 2008.
