Editors’ Review
Maze Quest for Mac adds an addictive puzzle game to your OS X Dashboard. The gameplay is engaging and yet easy to master; you use the arrow keys to navigate a maze and reach the exit, while tackling many obstacles along the way. Overall the game impresses with its responsiveness and high number of puzzles -- no less than 180.
After launching Maze Quest for Mac for the first time, you will be thrown right into the first level, which is part of an extensive tutorial spanning a dozen levels in total. Controlling the character is straightforward: use the four arrow keys to navigate a 2D maze and an additional key to restart the level. Along the way to the objective, you will face challenges that gradually increase in complexity and that might leave you scratching your head with determination. You will encounter classical puzzles such as invisible, movable, and breakable blocks, but you will also come across portals, locks, bombs, slingshots, clones of the main character, and more. While the graphics are nothing fancy, the 2D images are nicely drawn and do not subtract from the overall experience.
If you enjoy puzzles and would like a quick yet challenging one you can play when you're bored, you should try Maze Quest for Mac. It's snappy and responsive. If the graphics were better, this could have been a really popular puzzle game.
