The primary objective of the P&H replenishment program is to provide real-time reporting of material consumption and cost by job. We understand that while many businesses are similar there is not a one size fits all solution. In an effort to address this issue we start with some basic out of the box functionality with the expectation that the final solution will be customized to your business process.
Our replenishment solution consists of three components: one or more android barcode scanners that can be utilized in your stock room or your employees can take into the field, this custom-built application that the barcode device runs to track the consumption of parts, and a website that aggregates the data reported by the various android devices and provides real-time information about parts that were used.
To provide the best service and experience our replenishment solution requires the use of a specific android mobile barcode scanner that can be obtained directly from P&H. The android device has support for dual SIM cards, which if desired will allow the device to be used to make telephone calls and send text messages like any other android phone. The device supports an easily changeable battery, so your technicians can keep going in the field for hours without stopping to recharge.
Having the device present on the job site is an advantage as it helps keep accurate and up to date records. Employees no longer need to spend time keeping notes about what materials were used at which job site. Since our items are primarily tracked by barcode, technicians can instantly identify items, saving valuable time and improving accuracy. Our laser barcode devices scan barcodes faster and more reliably compared to the camera based barcode scanners found in many material tracking systems that utilize commodity mobile devices. The success of any program is dependent upon the cooperation of the people that participate in it. By using fast and user-friendly hardware our goal is to provide an easy-to-use system that employees are more likely to embrace. The system can also track parts from other vendors, such as lumber or masonry nails. Parts from other vendors can also be identified by barcode, allowing employees to track those parts with the same ease with which they track parts from Plimpton and Hills.
As the application is used information about which parts were consumed on what job is uploaded to our servers in real time over cellular or wifi, so information reaches your office quickly. Once the information reaches our server it is immediately available for review by your office staff, who can filter it by job, date, or user, and if they need to do additional processing the data can be exported to Microsoft Excel.
While the information is available immediately how you wish for your items to be replenished is completely in your control. Out of the box we add your items to an order that is then reviewed and processed by an inside sales expert according to your instructions. This portion of the program is customizable and can be tailored to a number of parameters. Some options are time-based, quantity used, case quantity only, etc
