Once you play all of your tiles or when you or your friend pass your turn three times in a row. But you will never resign, because you're a winner!Words With Friends is easy to pick up and play, but can be difficult to win if you're not familiar with all the ins and outs of the deceptively simple game.

Start a game with a friend by connecting your account to Facebook and seeing who comes up, searching for a friend via username, or matching with a random opponent that the app recommends. If you go first, you can place some or all of your seven tiles vertically or horizontally, but one of the tiles must be on the plus sign in the center of the board. Every word thereafter must connect to the previous words.

In Words With Friends, each letter has a numerical value assigned to it, and the higher the number, the more points it's worth. Score the most points and win by consistently creating words with the highest numerical values.

Sounds simple enough, right? But if you're still not winning, read on for Words With Friends cheats, tips, and strategies, sure to help you master the game.

What does DL stand for in Words With Friends?

DL stands for Double Letter, so the numerical value of any letter placed on that bonus space is doubled. For example, if an X, which is worth eight points, is dropped there, it will be valued at 16 points. TL stands for Triple Letter and that triples the value of the letter placed on that space. DW and TW stand for Double Word and Triple Word, respectively. If you place a letter on the DW, the value of your entire word is doubled, and if you place a letter on the TW space, then the value of your entire world is tripled. Combine bonus spaces, like a TL with a TW, to earn a crazy amount of points.

Can I create three words at once?

Get extra points for creating multiple words at once using neighboring letters. For example, if you have the word WAND, you can place the letters E, M, and U under the first three letters (WAN), and not only will you earn points for the word EMU, but you'll also earn additional points for having created three other words: WE, AM, and NU.

How many points do you get for using all your letters in Words With Friends?

Play all seven tiles in one move and earn a whopping 35 extra points.

Which words are not accepted in Words With Friends?

Proper nouns, abbreviations, prefixes and suffixes, hyphenated words, words that require an apostrophe, or any derogatory words are not counted.

Where can I find a Words With Friends cheat or word generator?

The Words With Friends Cheat from YourDictionary enables you to simply enter your tiles to find a list of potential words sorted by word length and base points, so you see the highest scoring words first. WinEveryGame and Word-Grabber also offer a word generator tool. Game-theory expert William Spaniel offers several informative cheat videos on YouTube, such as Words with Friends Strategy: The Biggest Mistake You Can Make. Finally, Cheat for Words With Friends on iOS and Auto Words With Friends Cheats for Android (below) are also very helpful.

How do I block my opponent on Words With Friends?

Play short words, not long ones, that bring your opponent ever closer to TL or TW bonus squares at the edges of your board. Additionally, don't drop a high-points letter in a spot with lots of free squares around it, or your opponent's odds of creating a far higher point word will exponentially increase.

When does the game end?

Once you play all of your tiles or when you or your friend pass your turn three times in a row. But you will never resign, because you're a winner!
