It's probably too late to book a flight to South Korea to catch the winter games in person. But starting February 9, you can watch the events of this year's Winter Olympics on your Android or iPhone device. NBC will broadcast the 2018 Winter Olympics this year from February 9 through 25, and you can catch the games live on your local NBC channel, the NBC Olympics site, or via the NBC sports app or on an app from one of the live streaming services, including SlingTV or DirectTV Now.
So stay home, download a streaming app, and watch the Olympics live from Pyeongchang, South Korea, to keep up with Olympic results.
If you intend to watch the 2018 Winter Olympics on your phone from February 9 to 25, the dedicated NBC sports app should be up to the task.
You just got done watching the Super Bowl on NBC, but don't change that channel. The network is also the broadcast home of the 2018 Winter Olympics, broadcasting the winter games on your local NBC affiliate and other channels in the NBC network, including NBCSN, USA, and CNBC. If you want to catch the winter games on your mobile device, download the NBC Sports app. You can also watch the events from South Korea online on NBC's sports website, both live and on demand. You may need to authenticate with your service provider to watch the games via NBC's streaming services.
But you don’t need to subscribe to a cable or satellite service, however, to watch the winter games on NBC. If you’re a cord-cutter, DirectTV Now, Hulu, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, and YouTube TV all carry NBC in select markets as part of a streaming subscription package. Before you sign up, confirm that the NBC local affiliate is available in your region before you subscribe. And each streaming service also carries in various packages the other channels in the NBC network that will have live Olympic coverage, including NBCSN, USA, and CNBC.
You can sign up for $35 a month to DirecTV Now's basic streaming service, which includes CNBC, NBCSN, USA, and NBC.
Hulu with Live TV offers 50 or so channels -- including NBC, CNBC, NBCSN, and USA -- for $39.99 a month, with access to all of Hulu's on-demand catalog.
The basic Access subscription level of Playstation Vue includes CNBC, NBC, NBCSN, and USA with 50-something channels, for $39.99 a month.
It's hard to beat the price -- $25 a month -- for SlingTV's Blue package, which includes NBC, NBCSN, CNBC, USA, and 45 other channels.
