Color Mania is a new puzzle title from zuHapps, developers of puzzle titles Save the Birds and 2048. When the game is started, a countdown from sixty seconds begins and the player must engage in a two by two grid of what appears to be four squares of the same color. Good color sense is required, as not all of these squares are the same color -- some are a slightly different hue. Selecting the correct squares will yield the player one point, and the countdown continues regardless of a success or a failure. As the player advances through puzzles, the grid expands to three by three, and even up to six by six. If a player is having trouble on the current puzzle, the player has the option to click the light bulb in the top right corner and the current puzzle will reset, all without losing the current point score and timer in the current session of game play. The game functions similar to the Dots Game, with the exception being that you aren't focused on connecting the same hue or color in an adjacent space in the field of game play; Offset hues can be anywhere on the grid, and with the contrasting grid lines that separate each square they are easy to pinpoint. While the timer may seem like a sense of urgency, the timer only serves to set a limit on one particular round of game play; the Color Mania puzzle remains a simple yet enjoyable experience. In Color Mania, the player does not necessarily win or lose, but is given the opportunity to achieve a new high score on each play through. To further ease the player throughout the game play experience, Color Mania is set to tranquil and relaxing music, accompanied by soft sound effects when the player taps on a colored square inside the grid; even the sound effects of the timer running out aren't unnerving; zuHapps took great care to create a puzzle game that functions at a relaxed pace. An easy puzzle game, particularly so when compared to more complex game play like Candy Crush, Color Mania will prove to provide plenty of smooth paced entertainment for hours at a time.
