Editors' Review

by   / February 27, 2009

This simple utility scans your system for invalid registry entries, but lacks detailed error information. WinUtilities Registry Cleaner's simply designed interface is relatively easy to use with a Wizard-like functionality. As with similar programs, this application lets you choose among the Windows registry areas to scan. Problem ActiveX objects, software settings, and shared DLL entries are all quickly found by this app. The results are listed to allow you to choose items to fix and remove, though WinUtilities Registry Cleaner unfortunately doesn't provide detailed information for each error. The user is left to decide if the entry truly is in error or a missed part of an installed application. Helpfully, you can create restore points before deleting any entries. You can then restore the registry from the restore point with a simple Rescue option. WinUtilities Registry Cleaner is fast and effective, though common features such as registry defragmentation aren't available. Nonetheless, this program will prove to be a handy registry cleaner for users of any experience level.
